Lovely, and fresh take on isekai and not the usual instant gratification novel.
You can feel reality meets game math, and no wikkipedia to solve it.
This is the author that made The Snake Report, and boy have they outdone themselves this time. If The Snake Report was 10/10, then The Gilded Hero is an 11/10.
This is an awesome story story with an interesting MC the pacing seems slow though. But it is very good read.
It is rare to find a believable and relatable character in recent LitRPG, but in this case it is exactly that. Usually you find the written down fantasy of a misogynist adult. John is instead a real person in a real setting going through hardship, which is what life usually is, especially if one is thrown in a completely new and hostile environment. I like it very much and really look forward to read new chapters! Keep this up!!
Pretty good and def worth the read if the author can keep this quality I could see it becoming one of the tops stories
Seems good so far some chapters are really short but considering 17 chapters have been posted in about an hour I’m going to overlook that. Like the concept tho
I found it interesnting at first but by chapter 42 its just a sad story about some sucker that gets summoned, gets enslaved with other suckers while they sell them the "you are a Hero" BS, then MC is just plain boring, no powers, no skills, just plain stupid luck, which is good. no forced power up or anything but it gets old when he is treated like shit over and over again and then you realice that MC is going to be the bitch of the bully in turn like this:
Bully -> peace -> Bully2 -> peace _> next bully and so on and so on.
I found the story just depresing, so not for me.
again, its really well written and it is interesting but I see how the MC is going to be going from sad tale to sad tale.
Engaging well written
Nice world building beginnings
Characters feel human and worthy of empathizing with
fun and quick read - with great potential
This is not a wish fulfillment story. The protagonist is not a Mary Sue. The characters are real, the stakes are high, the action is satisfying, the setting and world building is engrossing.
2/2/20: Still going strong. Wish author would update more!
Strong worldbuilding. I can get a real sense of different world political powers and the struggles going on without huge walls of text/exposition.
Characters and motivations feel real and personalities shine through. Main character is intelligent and it shows, and you have a real sense of confusion, contrasted a bit with the epigraphs that provide some cool context.
If the quality remains consistent, I would claim this to be one of if not the top story on this site.
There is little excitement to be had in reading this story, and without exciting content there is little point in reading any of this.
The first couple of chapters are interesting I'll give it that much, but from the time the MC enters the service if the Baron it becomes a tedious and unfulfilling read. There is no doubt the story has potential, but that potential is lost on the author.
I don't care what the title says, the MC is no Hero, he is in fact a chump. If my math is correct the MC killed a total of 1 animal and 2 people throughout all the chapters, and most of that happened in the last 3 chapters. Having said that one might wonder what happened in the rest of the story? The answer is Nothing. Nothing at all, nearly all of the story is made up of exclusively filler content where there is little to no story progression.
In my humble opinion, this was an epic waste of time and not worth the digital paper its not printed on.
