Vainqueur the Dragon
by Void Herald
Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: a giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time.
So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes," "levels," and "quests," Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change.
After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

Whatever you think is going to happen next, the author multiplies that by 10. This story is chaotic and funny, and will absolutely not let you take it seriously. There is a character who attacks with smutty fanfiction. My only complaint is that it feels way too short compared to other stories on here, but it wraps up nicely
I freaking love this crazy dragon, I know usually dragons aren't logical, but this one is so absurdly awesome that even the ilogycal things he says end up seeming to be logical.
He loves his hoard, but he loves getting princesses more.
Just loving this one.
I ain't a very good reviewer ain't I? 😅😅😅
It's actually rather funny - which is always a rare find. Even has internal logic, as far as such things go.
The constant subversion of tropes and expectations never fails to impress, and even more amazingly what was generally painted as a bleak and dark future look positively shiny. It's rare for a novel to contain so much joy in them, and this one has it in abundance and more. The complete opposite of Worm or Warden, but just as good.
EDIT (Added after reading the whole story): Possibly the only web novel ever that's going to be educational even for older people.
I started reading Vainqueur when the author released the 15th chapter. I have followed along with the story as it progressed. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I enjoyed every moment. I recommend this story to others, and they have all loved it.
It is truly rare on this site to actually complete a story, let alone a well written and loved story. Some other authors might have continued to expand their story, until it reached wuxia story leangths. The author was wise enough not to do that...(at the time of this review).
Void, thank you for completing this wonderful story. You did something truly difficult and risky, and you pulled it off. Best of luck on whatever you decide to do next.
Worth your time reading. The beginning isnt as fun, but the writing gets better, the author finds his style. I was worried that this was gonna be: protaganist is OP from the beginning, but it was not and it turned out great. A must read from on royalroad. How am i not at 50 words yet
It hath taken me days. DAYS to finish binge reading this beautiful and glorious fiction and I hunger for MORE. Highly recommend if you desire fantasy, comedy and shenanigans!
This is absolutely beautiful. The author is able to insert amazing wit and cultural references, while preserving the litrpg progression side. The characters are great, the storyline, though made for humour is nonetheless perfectly coherent, the style is enthralling and there are absolutely no typos or grammar mistakes.
VAINQUEUR, BEST DRAGON!
I'm sorry, it's just that good. This story is undeniably one of my favorite ones. From the near-zealous application of DnD-like elements to the unique characters—I fucking love it.
Some stories on RR are about good people accidentally turning evil. You know the ones. This story is the opposite - its about evil people accidentally turning good... or at least Lawful Capitalist.
Humour is very much subjective, but I think its hilarious. You'll know if Best Dragon Vainqueer is for you within the first few chapters.
