Vainqueur the Dragon
by Void Herald
Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: a giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time.
So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes," "levels," and "quests," Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change.
After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

I always try to leave the stories I read alone for a few weeks so I can stack up chapters to read. Vainqueur has bested me, I’m unable to stop myself reading chapters as soon as I see them come out. An excellent story that’s very enjoyable to read.
You made me chuckle!
Vainqueur, best dragon!
Great story, humorous writing and characters. A very enjoyable read.
The only critique I have is the book cover, I'm not very sure if it's licensed and I see no mentions or credit to the artist (Björn Lensig):
EDIT: All is good now!
You will not be disapointed if you read this.
I recently started reading this gem of a story. What can I say other that it was more than I expected it to be. The creativity behind it is beyond outsanding. Every page I read left me want to read more and more. I binge read the whole thing in less then two days. I laughed so hard reading this. I hope they make this into an anime or atleast a manga. We should petition but I guess it needs a few more chapters for that.
Anyway, if you're looking to be thoroughly entertained read this work of art.
Cons: battles could be more fun/better read
Pros: Everything else.
I jumped onto this story around chapter 30, since then I just fell into love with it. It definetly started out rough but since then it became more and more polished as it fleshed out the characters especially in the case of Vainqueur. He started out as a vain 1 dimesional character (I finally get his name now.... wow) and has actually grown and progressed as a character. This is the kind of story that I will miss once it ends and I know it's coming soon but I will look back fondly at the laughs it has brought me and the interesting viewpoints as well
The first arcs were the works of a genius, one of the best comedy I have read in my life. I don't know when exactly took the story a turn for the worst, but for me the last chapters are missing something that was present in this webnovel before.
I have the feeling that the author started to take the story more seriously, or maybe he is just tired. That would be understandable, though, as he has been delivering three chapters a week for quite a while now, and he is also working on an other story.
Whatever the reason, the last few dozen chapters don't quite do it for me. Still, I won't give any worse score than four stars, because the first arcs are masterpieces.
Vainqueur has a natural way of trampling over well-made plans and plots. Mix that with odd-ball "breeding" humor and stockholm syndrome, you have one hell of a story.
My 4.5 star rather than 5 star review is only because while extremely funny, some spots of the story can lag behind a little bit, but pushing past that is well worth it.
You will not regret starting this story up
I enjoy the humor a great amount. It is only amplified by the fact it has a leveling system that seems to enjoy pointing out peculiar things. I enjoy the godly characters, especially moon man (psuedo cthulhu with greek prophet vibes) since he can't seem to stop giving out prophecies. best of luck Voidherald
