What’s best in life? For Hero, it had been the joy of creation, to see her work take shape before her, and bask in the affections of her women. But then she got sick. Terminally yet interminably consigned to bed (not actually bedridden, just restrained), she could only suffer and wait until the pride of family to a Dying Girl™ is satisfied.

Meanwhile, on another world entirely, a renegade avenges her lover by freeing the Dungeon (the proper term is ‘locus spirit’) who had for centuries been enslaved by the Empire of Man. In the process of draining energies and essences to break her bonds, the Locus Spirit produces offspring.

Finding new life in a new world, Hero decides to live this one to the fullest. Whatever the hell that means.

A really excellent story so far.  I love the writing style, I love the characters, I love that I don't know what is happening next.

I like fast paced stories with lots of complexity and diverse influences.  I also like authors who know their genre well enough to riff off its tropes, rather than be buried under them.  We got both going on here.

I hope to see more of this story.
