***A couple disclaimers***
Thus story features progressive RPG elements. This is my first story, and I'm wanting to start slow on the status screens and game rules. I just wanted to put this here to let everyone know what they were getting.

Havent chanced on a new story in a long time, that isnt on trending. Used to do it a lot. But i am happy that i did so again! // so i expected something way different then what the cover art promised, but i now get the jolly roger reference. Still i got a engaging and fun to read story out of it, with a sprinkeling of boxes. Normaly you would get bombarded with those. // i wrote whole bit on the strong points of the story, but that would be spoilers, so... Review was made at the of release of chapter 13.
This story has a great start, true it is slightly rough around the edges, but it doesn't detract from the overall story. There is some great foreshadowing that makes me excited for what will come in the future and as a character I like Utah. Overall this story has a very promising future that will not only be exciting to see but also guess at what will come next.
This comes close to being a five star for me. Overall it is excellent, but I do have a few nitpicks, the biggest relates to the MC's real life situation. I think the unfortunately crippled protaganist is a bit overused, but piling a crippling accident on top of a dishonorable discharge seems a bit much. My other minor gripe is the MC seeing a flippant doc. It is fairly straight forward to get a GP that you like and works well with you, from there the MC would be recomended a pain specialist who could help with his cronic pain (most of which would be paid by insurance if he was injured in a crash).
Other than those two things, relating to the real world bit (a much more secondary story to get our MC into the game world consistently), the story is excellent. Progression is fantastic. The MC is great, and the side characters are pretty good too (especially the captian). The paceing is good, and other than minor grammer and spelling errors, the story is well written.
Read if you are looking for a LitRPG with a different take on the MMO genre.
So, when I first saw this today I was like let's give it a shot and see what we get and I have not been disappointed so far aside from some minor spelling/grammer issue (But hey we are on the internet who are we to judge :D). The main protag I feel I can relate to on a emotional level and how he handles his shit. I'm Chapter 18 at this time if a change in rating is needed I'll do it but this is already pretty good and am just happy to see something on pirates as well.
My man you have written probably the best pirate VRMMO I have read. And goodness gracious you make the main character so lifelike probably because you've experienced some of what he has and it solidifies him in reality. Great stuff truly! Okay this next bit is just for the author.
Fixed the mom talk to be more realistic! Yay!! And you recycled the info into it which was a smart way to be lazy, you did good!
Chapter 35 edit: I'm really glad I gave this a chance
Ok so I got sucked into this story I dont remember few (if any) errors I'm excited for how this goes
The only thing that really pulled me from the story was the chapter repeating for some reason (dont know if it was my browser's fault)
Daily updates hahahahahahaha and dont drop this
Its GREAT but i fell that the pace is too slow or maybe its because there are too few chapters right now
The author is a very likable erson who is active in discord and really know hoew to touch the feels of the audience. When I read this I really feel like I can relate to what Utah is feelin' at the moment. Good job Updateanan... Plus there's pretty nice Grammer.
This is the only real pirate book on royal road and I am here for it! The character development happens really quickly, but keeps you on the edge of your seat. The lit rpg elements are cool and easy to follow. Grammar mistakes aren’t common, but with a new author mistakes are expected, sometimes I get a little lost in the sauce. But after another quick read through a part I’m back and ready for more! So these are definitely readable mistakes. Overall I can’t wait for more from this book and this author.
Absolutely loving it, such a unique set of characters and a world to boot.
