Original ONGOING Comedy Fantasy Romance Magic Male Lead Slice of Life Supernatural Urban Fantasy

"Um... Hello, I guess? Is this where I'm supposed to explain what's going on? Well, I would love if someone explained things to me for a change, but whatever, I will give it a try.

So, my name is Leonard Dunning, pleased to make your acquaintance. According to my ID, I'm a fairly average high-schooler, living alone while my parents are somewhere 'overseas', wherever that may be. I'm tall, pretty fit, living in an impeccably clean house, and I attend a scenic high school full of friends, romance and coming-of-age hi-jinks. Sounds neat on paper, right? Too bad I have absolutely no memory of any of this. One day I simply woke up in this weirdly pristine world with a splitting headache and a nasty case of retrograde amnesia that left me a blank slate unable to recognize even my face in the mirror. Worse yet, apparently this whole place is running on fairly clich├ęd writing conventions and stereotypes, complete with obvious background characters and dense harem protagonists!

So, what would your average guy do in this kind of situation? I have no clue, but as for me, I decided to roll up my sleeves, grab a notepad, observe this weird world and work out what makes it tick. If you are curious about how deep this rabbit hole goes (and trust me, we will need spelunking equipment), you are more than welcome to come along for the ride."

I'm actually surprised to find something as well written as Andur's work in this website, I recommend it!

Pro
- MC isn't dumb, he knows how to use his head and feels actually mature and calm, not like some hot blooded caricature, or even worse, some kind of pervert/evil dude.

- Characters are all interesting and cute, even past their supposed archetype, and I really appreciate how mc "tames" them, actually making them change for the better from what was a simple "tsundere", "childhood friend", etc, to something more complex, while still being very much endearing. I like when there is an actual character development and this is on point on that!

Also, kudos for not making useless forced drama around harem, making it quite natural overall, more realistic than many harems I've seen around.

Another good thing is that the mc seems like a secondary character, perfect for manipulating around and being some kind of third party for what's going on.

- The world is really mysterious, you want to know more about what's going on.

Con
- MC reaction in the beginning, not trying to understand the world by reading a wiki about where he is, the story of the world, etc, is weird.

- A tad too much humorous remarks in the internal mc dialogues in the first chapters... fortunately it got better later.

- It lacks characters outside of the main ones, mainly due to the setting. Still, it feels dry to not have more "tertiary" active characters around.

The story is interesting, the characters are likable, the writing is flowing and witty. Would have been satisfied with the first volume, and am overjoyed to see there are more to come.

This is a seriously great piece of fiction.

The narrative is good, the story innovative but at the same time familiar.

The characters are amazingly fleshed out and their interactions very likeable.

The world building is seriously amazing in its own weird mysterious way.

The only issue that I can consider revolting is!

I've read all the chapters...

Hook, line and sinker, you got me here author, have mercy on me!

Indulgent Story, don't spoil before reading.

The story is great, and indulgent on the history of anime.

While it does do somethings to subvert expectation, it's very celebaratory of it's subject matter.

That said a non spoiler guide is that the character development is top tier, even if the plot is delibarately predictable and the pacing a bit odd.

A different take on Isekai

Although the premise isn’t new I’m really digging this story. Only ten chapters in so far but it’s very engaging and the character interactions play out very well. I like how the MC isn’t really neotaring his friend but breaking through the tropes both purposefully and accidentally is very entertaining. Keep up the content please. If it gets there I don’t mind adult situations cropping in but nothing explicit please. I like the lighthearted tone of the story. Unlike some I do like harem stories both light hearted and adult oriented but I think your aiming for the former, which is fine.

first review in a long time

As the title of this review says, i rarely give them out.... that being said, i have sat for way too many hours, and read way to far into the early morning for my health.

I have started reading hundreds of stories on this site... some i follow, most i drop. every now and again i find one that i call "Good"... and even more rare i find one that sits in the catagory of "Rare gem". this is one of those stories.

the absurd size of each chapter means that this story has more meat to it in 10 chapters than many others have at chapter 60 or even 80... (Author note: please dont change the size of the chapters as i LOVE having meat to consume).. the writing is impeccable and grammer mistakes are so rare as to not even be noticeable. the charaters (except for the "Placeholders" which are SUPPOSED to be 2D) are fleshed out well when you consider the story is completly driven from the MC's point of view. I honestly cant get over how much i like this story, it is now firmly listed as a story i will follow until its end.

Thanks again to Egathentale for sharing this.

This is what people call good shit, and mean it.

The characters who are based on tropes are fleshed out characters, even the side characters. World building is good. Terminology that some might not understand is explained, and not just expected to be obvious. There is both scripted conflict, which is thrown off course by Leo, and there is non scripted conflict that pops up due to Leo's actions.

Good Shit.

Top notch; Professional Quality; Read it.

Very refreshing spin that cleverly employs genre tropes while turning them on their heads. Interesting plot. Three dimensional and compelling characters. Interactions that, while note entirely realistic all of the time, are believable within the context of the world building.

The author has a firm mastery of the English languagem Beyond that, there is a level of detail, thoughtfulness, and cleverness on display within the writing that places this within the top tier of anything you'll find on this site. This is upper echelon, professional grade writing.

Just favorite this fiction and read it. It's that good.

Satire forgets it's satire

Honestly loving this story but I don't like how you had the MC go for the polygamy route. I also didn't like how the MC took the harem protag's harem. The poly relationship just makes the MC seem like an indecisive coward and stealing the harem girls from the protag kind of abandons the point of this fic being about the idiot friend archetype becoming self aware. It kind of stops being self aware when it becomes the very thing it was satirizing.

Even though I really like Snowy, from a story and character perspective, Judy and the MC should have been a monogamous couple at this point to contrast with the harem shenanigans. I'll give it four and a half stars because I trust what you said about "doing a thing" with the current poly relationship. I really hope you bring this back on track.
