In the war-torn land of Cyraveil, four heroes strove to overthrow an empire. By cold steel and elemental sorcery, they brought peace to a warring land on the brink of destruction. As the flames died, the realm needed strong leadership, and who better than the champions who had saved the kingdom? But when the people sought out their saviors... they vanished.

Matt, Blake, Jen, and Carl: the four mysterious companions, who together had deposed an insane ruler and saved countless lives, were gone—spirited back in a whirlwind of magic to a sleepy suburb in Mellbridge, Oregon, never to return. The friends found themselves home in the real world, exactly as they'd been the night they were taken, as if no time had passed... except only three came back.

Hi there! This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...)

I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it!

Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time.

First of I don't normally do reviews. Second I world have never read this story if I hadn't noticed many authors I like reading had this in there favorites. This story is deeply haunting and externally poignant. This delves into the struggles in having to reintegrateback into a society that had not changed at all although you might've. Honestly I've never actually considered exactly what might happen in a book that ends like this begins. The author didn't tell us on a story but had us experience. Well written only reason not a five star was because of a few typos. Thanks to this story now I wonder why nothing like this happened in The Chronicles of Narnia.

Amazing, reading your story was disheartening and inspiring at the same time. I was overwhelmed by how real the characters felt, how I found myself caring so much about them. It might take five, ten years, even my whole life if necessary, I hope one day I can write like you did in this story. Truly a masterpiece.

In a way, this story is perfect. It's well written, it's focused, it's dramatic, it's interesting, it's tragic, and, most importantly, it's completely unique. It doesn't belong anywhere below the top 5. The story leaves me wanting more, but I think expanding on this universe would ruin it, so I hope the author will move on.

I don't have a single bad thing to say about Epilogue. If you haven't, read it.

yes this book is good and I really like it and you should read it because it is good. it rivals my immortal in quality, though not quite as good. it is definitely better than the stories in morrowind however, and doesnt come with the amphetamine binge. This may be positive or negative for you depending on how you view things, but its probably positive. it just won a contest so you should extra read it and encourage him to use more amphetamines to write his works of art so that one day he may surpass the greats like ebony da'arkness raven way or whatever and can finally exterminate the prepz and pozers

A brilliant story, if sometimes logically inconsistent.

English gimmick is just wrong

As much as I like the story, Jen forgetting English just isn't a thing that happens to people. Even brain injury usually doesn't damage your knowledge of your mother tongue. If you're 16 and pick up a new language, it just won't overwrite your knowledge of the original. That gimmick was off putting for how unrealistic it is. I know it's a fantasy themed story, but it's not that kind of fantasy.

This novel made me sooo mad

This story kept me engaged from first chapter and was fairly interesting. Author have really interesting approach to the characters change after their journey. Personally some of them make no sense from information given about some characters and u have a bad teste after 2 of the characters are shown in very good light while another apparently smartest is unhinged.

This novel ending is ridiculous. Made me soooo mad and I regretted that I even seen it. I really wanted to give author 1 star because of it but it wouldn’t be fair. I just wish there was a continuation to it as there is room there for some revenge story.

Story is okay but could use some polishing. A few plot holes and logic errors.

I admit, I couldn't quite get into it in the beginning, I was half hoping these people will admit their bad memories to themselves so I couldnt understand the story before the story more but since its completed, I didn't drop it.

Honestly, It could be better on all aspects but emotionally man... emotionally, This hurts so hard. I'm glad you didnt include Blakes POV before death because It damn well was telegraphed so hard, I never wanted to see it. Blake had it worst, not just because he died but they all seemingly knew that he was going to die even CARL!

Anyway, its an amazing story. I hate how you just brushed over Sara though.

PS. The David guy is real, someone will indeed do that to you just for laughs. If anything like isekai ever happens, Nobody would admit its real no matter what happens. A world without magic can't be exposed to magic just like how we can't be exposed to other Aliens yet. Humans themselves are too primitive and corrupt to ever be the greater person in a matter of different species. Carl is right. War isn't pretty but Humans are damn good at it and if there is even a brief glipse of another species coming over. We would fight. we would manipulate, we would cover up and most importantly, We would justify any morally wrong thing just to get the better results for us until we are wiped out.

This story only briefly hints at what would happen if it got exposed. Its only one person afterall. Humanity will find it reasonable to just torture you instead of a polite conversation. Carl wanted his Power back, not his life.
