Ok im gonna state that my rating are not what everyone will agree on but it my honest opinion.
The story was honestly boring too too much talking not enough actual plot or even progression. When it does come it just too little too late. This novel is about characters and their problems like a dark teen drama of young adults growing up. Some of the characters are interesting and well built some are ehhh but it will probably improve since every character in the story get history and time to shine which leads into a problem itself this novel is too much relationship it gets overwhelming and bores quickly when you keep hitting a dead horse with the same stick. The main character to me is unlikeable in my opinion she a parasite, now let me explain she a very clingy parasite alot of her decision are bad and are done to never be left alone which the character has admitted that alot of her actions are to make sure people don't leave her. Now the side characters shine in this novel each of them is very well crafted you get their wants and motives, their desires and even hopes. All I can say is 10/10 for the side characters they are the only reason I bother to keep reading this.
The story overall is ok, but I think it lack flavor...it just feels so generic in the first chapter that I don't really want to read more. I don't have any emotional response to reading these chapters. It's just like some random person (with some name I can't even relate to) being picked up by a sect (again) trying his best to grow in power for w/e reason (I don't even think theres a reason the mc wants to grow in power, beside let's just go with the flow...i'm in a sect...)
To be honest, I don't feel compelled to read more, so yea I will not give 5 stars...maybe the story does get better later on I just will not know I guess...
(so many ppl rate this 5 star, I just don't undertand too well, I see that the story quality is better than most xianxia and that the character are slightly more fleshed out than average, but it is still a xianxia with all the cliche and lack of compelling story that makes them pretty bad in the first place)
I like the world building and the cultivation system the author constructed for the novel. The characters are well written too, and it bogles me why the mc was written as such a character the way the story developes the more i want the mc to be someone else, the mc doesnt seem like an mc at all there are no golden finger neither is the mc smart or cunning neither is she anything close to special which is always required from the main character. Though i like the story i just cant make myself to read it anymore as its from the pov of the mc who is nothing special idk why the author keeps on making the mc looked down upon i find it hard to believe if ever could the mc reach the peak ever there are more competent people in every field the mc is good at there is always people good at things but every mc is constructed in a way that he/she atleast special at one thing that others cant compete with but the author is as unwilling as he/she can get at giving that something special to the mc.
You might think that to be completly fine as it will only make you think that the author wants the mc to reach the peak through her efforts but she is written in a way that it makes it impossible as she isnt clever enough or gifted enough in her talent regarding cultivation or has a background which might allow her to get the resources to reach the peak. Its over and over emphasized in the novel that resources needed to reach are astronomical and the skills which would be used to fight are better for the scions of the higher nobels so how she is gonna be able to surpass them bogles my mind, it would have atleast made my thoughts rest if the mc was intelligent which she definetly not and she is not evil too which may somehow had led her to the peak the story keeps on emphasizing how she is improving herself to be a good person and the author keeps on writting chapters and chapters of improvements in her character which might have been good if not for the fact that author should have atleast focused on the fact that the mc is not op at all the focus should be on making her powerful which i thought should have happened at this level of chapters but no now she goes on making the mc becoming the subordinate and of someone who is her age and us more powerful due the fact that the person is higher nobel and has more resources and a good skill set. If the mc is under someone her level of cultivation how is she ever gonna surpass her the novel is a mess i see no way in which mc can ever be at the peak.
Dont ever get me started on how the mc has high inferiority complex regarding her social standing as well as how god knows why the author always keeps on mentioning how the mc has dusky complexion and is too tall so she is not beautiful, and god forbids if someone ever compliments her the mc takes it as them being formal and never have i ever seen any of her friends compliment on being pretty after they make her all dolled up what is the author even trying to accomplish by always leeting the mc calling herself not pretty due to her being dusky and how she gets jealous after seeing someone with a pale skin, everyone is beautiful in there own way and the racist mentality is getting to me in this novel as the people keeps on putting the mc down which bothers me, but what bothers me most is mc doesnt find herself beautiful and the people around her mainly her friends not even making and effort at encouraging her and helping her get rid of her self concious attitude.
That's all the rant phew i got it all out from my mind the various errors of the novel were getting to me even though i kept on reading it regarding it as something of a new perspective, but the novel keeps on disapointing me too much for my taste so stopping it here was the best i could manage despite the story being good overall.
