Original HIATUS Adventure Drama Mystery Sci-fi Female Lead GameLit Strategy

A game of trust, secrets, and seemingly pure luck; how well does your friend wear their mask?

Waking up to find herself in a massive underwater military base, Guin Valentine, her twin brother Guy, and fourteen of their closest friends find themselves split into teams by their overseer, a cartoonesque mafia rat named Kairos. He gives them deadly tasks to perform and rewards them with private - and possibly dangerous - secrets about each other. What's the be gained from enduring this is unknown, but one thing is for certain: the mystery circulates around the two appointed leaders, the twins themselves.

Who is Kairos, and what's piloting him? What's to be gained from forcing these young adults into dangerous situations and pitting their trust against one another? And, most importantly...

How does this all relate back to Guin and Guy?

RATS: 252 Chances At Redemption is a "death game" original story. It's semi-illustrated with sprites and CGs, and is written in script format to replicate the feeling of a visual novel or comic!

A promising story with a dark side

So far, I have to say I'm hooked. With a cast of characters that I feel like I can easily relate to, a story that reminds me of game series that I enjoy; whilst still being original in its own way, and even hand-drawn CGs, this has to be one of the most ambitious projects I've seen when reading online fiction and I'm excited to see where the series goes from here.

RATS is genius writing

I've been with RATS for almost since it's beginning, and can I tell you - wow. Wow.

Rilie is one of the most amazing and talented writers I've ever had pleasure of befriending, and honest to goodness - their writing is like... I get chills.

RATS has made me laugh and cry, and feel emotions that I don't even get from some of the classics I've read.

It has an ingenious storyline and plot and the characters are so wonderful that I can't even decide who's my favorite - but Nichole is always at the top.

RATS has... changed the way I write and look at other literatures, and it is the most wonderful experience I've ever had, reading.

A very unique take on a popular genre

When I was first recommend this story from a friend, I wasn't sure what to expect. I went in knowing there was some semblance of Danganronpa-esque story telling that would be in place here, but I came out pleasantly surprised by the structure if this story! It not only takes it's own unique spin on the "trapped in a mysterious place" with some characters that I'm really enjoying learning about. I love the video game style this is taking and happily spent the past several days binging through the story (I'm a slow reader lol). I also really enjoy that we're getting some character development and a view on how things were in the real world before they ended up locked away at the beginning of the story. I'll definitely be staying to check this one out longer. Heck, I even made an account just to leave this review I was so impressed. I'm excited to see where this goes, and please, PLEASE DEAR AUTHOR, GO EASY ON THESE PRECIOUS CHILDREN ;-;

A uniquely excellent experience

RATS is fantastic. There's a reason that everyone I know who reads this story adores it: the characters are interesting and charming, and the presentation is near-perfectly executed, immediately sucking the reader in to the mystery and the characters' relationships. With RATS, I'm always waiting for the next chapter with bated breath, desperate to know what happens next.

There isn't much more detail I can put into this review without spoiling things, but that's all the more reason that you should read RATS yourself. Right now. Immediately. Trust me. You won't regret it.

The Story of the Century

I don't really know what I can tell you if you're not reading RATS besides the fact that you should be doing so at this very moment. In general, I struggle with reading frequently, but I've never had a problem being engaged with this story.

RATS is a beautiful tale with heartrending moments and heartwarming ones. It will make you laugh, cry, smile, and scream. Every word is chosen delicately and makes this an experience you will never forget. I have never loved anything I've read in my life more than I love RATS.

I can't really talk about the story itself without spoiling it, as is the nature of so many works of art. I write this review begging everyone who sees it to read and support this story. It's changed my life and is an inspiration to me as a writer.

Read RATS: 252 Chances at Redemption. It is a masterpiece of literature.

RATS is an amazing take on the death game genre

I've been a fan of RATS for quite some time, enamored by the story's refreshing cast of characters and interesting spin on the death game genre of story. The premise of 16 friends trapped in a facility forced to complete life threatening tasks for survival seems simple enough, but I mean it when I say that kisikil's writing makes you feel seriously connected to these characters, leaving you on the edge of your seat every time they risk their lives for this twisted game.

Each character has their moment in the spotlight and a uniquely fleshed out personality and background, making you feel a deeper connection to them as learn more about them through reading.

At times, you see these characters at their most vulnerable, and it really and truly leaves you wishing that none of them should die in this story. I think that's an incredible and very hard thing to do in writing, but RATS pulls it off incredibly well.

Speaking of, kisikil's writing is tremendous and I'd highly recommend reading RATS if it sounds even remotely interesting to you -- it's truly an enthralling tale of murder, friendship, and talking rats!

The RATS that make all of da rules

A story in the vein of 999 and other stories of the like, RATS is a story about a group of people trapped in a mysterious location that they try to escape from. And unlike the escape rooms of reality, this place features puzzles that may or may not literally blow someone's mind.

At the very least the mind's of those in this will certainly be broken one way or another.

Now in terms of story structure, this one may take a bit to fully enjoy as a rather large set of characters is introduced from the beginning, however with expert characterization and story telling, not to mention a picture of everyone once introduced, each character stands out on their own.

On that note this story also tackles mature themes that anyone can face, such as do you truly know someone, can you trust them if you do not know them, the consequences of inaction, and the value of a life.

With that in mind, I hope you take the time to read this story and enjoy it for the hidden gem that it is.
