First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who read up until this point! I am absolutely astounded by how much attention this story gained. I'm still used to receiving 5-10 followers on a chapter's release lol.

This story meant a lot to me since it was one of those stories I had since the 8th grade (chuunibyou, anyone?), and I'm sure many readers have their own story that they think others would one day enjoy. My story slowly changed and altered as I grew, which made it all the more close to my heart as a result.

With that being said...I have news.

This past weekend I was at one of those church camps (I'm sure some of you might know the experience lol) and encountered God and Jesus once again, who had asked me to give everything up to follow them. It hurts me to say this, since having my story enjoyed was a phenomenal thing to me (and we haven't even reached the good parts, yet!), but I will no longer be continuing this story or any story.

I had planned to just delete the story from existence but was moved to inform everyone of the reason. It took me days of reaching this conclusion since I was fighting back so hard and wanted to compromise, but no compromises were to be had. Ultimately, I decided this route since I am not ashamed of the gospel, which has the power to save to anyone who believes.

Thank you everyone!

    Which denomination is against writing?

      thatguyiam ago

There isn’t really any denomination of Christianity that is against writing specifically, though we do try to avoid promoting vulgarity or other sinful behavior. Bad things do happen in this story, but those things are mostly shown to be odd/ unusual and aren’t promoted as how we should behave. That being said, many people who read the Bible come up with their own interpretation of what it means that most other people can’t seem to find. Some people believe that reading something like Harry Potter is a sin because it has witches and magic and monsters, but most other Christians would just think that is silly.

      MADAO is life ago

Asceticism/Monasticism is a pretty hardcore belief, maybe whatever version of Christianity they identify with also practices old school penance too (by whipping their own back). this message sounds like a joke though.

      Samelie ago

Even if it were a joke, he is turning a lot of readers away from this story this way.

Religion can be a funny thing. You should not belittle someone about their religious choices and be more understanding of what they are looking for.

While I can understand the reasoning behind giving up his great writing. I'm also disappointed in his choice and the reasoning behind it. If the reasoning was lack of time and/or access to write, I think there would be a more favorable reaction with all these post. Do have to applaud his bravery for posting his true reasons for dropping the story and hope the flack he's receiving doesn't discourage him.

I'm also hoping that this is no joke as anytime someone uses religion in a serious way and then comes back saying "it's a joke" loses my respect.

      Havoc the Younger ago

Well said. Being a firm Believer, I do have some very strict restrictions...but I've read and watched the entirety of the HP series, Lord of the Rings, etc. Some folks are just crazy and, like many other crazy people, use God as a way to get away with being insane and committing acts of terrible evil. Meh, but, I'm just a guy who likes to read fantasy. Praise God!

      PCarrson77 ago

Never heard of a religion against writing (except maybe a cult or something you here rumors about) still I guess it's your choice.

      Havoc the Younger ago

Neither have I, but I'm not surprised either, there have been worse things done in the name of God

      Newbage ago

Pretty sure the fact that he's writing about a world with polytheistic gods or "divines" goes into "blasphemy" territory with some of the more hardcore denominations of abrahamic monotheisms (christianity, islam, judaism)

    ballink ago

He posted this on reddit 3 days ago maybe it is a joke as he seems to be intent in continuing in this post.

I'll try to answer as much as I can,

If you spend some time rationalizing his decision before he said what he said would make it more rationalist.

This is an issue with web serials, as this is addressed directly in the next chapter. But before that, I'm attempting to make a rational fiction, not a rationalist. A lot of people have their thoughts on what the MC did, but a few others correctly guessed that this was a result of his niche backlashing on him. One portion of a rational fiction is that the rules are consistent, so things that happened can be guessed by readers who keep things in mind.

I always thought butler is not dissimilar to the head of staff

Right you are, I'll have to address and edit those portions later.

Moldings...But explanation around them is lacking.

This will be addressed directly once the aeromancy classes start in Prestige.

Tropes...I guess you could do with some play-around.

This would be like reading a fantasy story with elves and dwarves and telling the author to mix it up with more unique and less cliche races. What I'm writing is a story that I myself would like to read so I include tropes I enjoy. Tropes in itself isn't a bad thing, though some may be more annoyed than others with certain ones simply because they've seen it so often.

Thanks for reading what I have so far!

EverShadow ago

So kinda serious question, is this a joke? Because I'm familiar with Christianity and I'm pretty sure you can follow god while still writing a book. Are you going on a mission trip or becoming a preist? Are you quitting your job as a banker? Just kinda curious why these are mutually exclusive things.

Dkgbeast ago

LMAO what?!? As a Christian myself you don’t have to literally give up everything to be faithful but hey, you do you. Thanks for the story and wishing you the best.

oro ago

that ... does not make any sense to me.

would have liked to read more of this.

whatever.

your life your priorities. enjoy

Undadawg ago

What has believing in God and giving yourself to him have to do with being a writer ?. As far as i can tell your writing contains nothing vulgar or that should take you away from Him.

    TheDangerousDino ago

No. He plans to follow his religion with everything which means abandoning some hobbies ( ie this story)

    uictoriam4 ago

This is why I avoid religious nuts and religion altogether.People do unreasonable things in the name of religion. This is still somewhat tame compared to some of the superstitious things people do like drinking cow's piss ia beneficial(the fuck!;apparently by some Hindu people), Scientology(the beliefs of the religion like humans were brought to earth 75 million years ago by alien space ruler Xenu in spacecrafts and they detonated hydrogen bombs in volcanoes; Tom Cruise's antics ),The fucking gender inequality in Islam with hijab etc and so on .Be agnostic and happy

      TheDangerousDino ago

I wouldn’t call him a religious nut for dropping a story on an honestly low key website. In fact, even though it hurts to have a fuckingb good story dropped I can respect the fact he wants to follow what he wants to do.

I’m just glad he at least he kept a platform for fans to vent a little. He could’ve very easily outright delete everything and just be off.

      AndrewIsntCool ago

He didn't just drop the story though

I encountered God and Jesus once again, who had asked me to give everything up to follow them.

A religious nut is one who takes their own interpretation and applies it to the extreme, in this case it is dropping everything.

It is not stated what exactly he dropped, (except for this story). Dropping a web serial in the name of Christ almighty is not religious nut stuff, but dropping EVERYTHING (chocolates, pre-marital sex, non Christian friends, etc etc) is the stuff religious nuts do.

Based on what he write I don't think it is possible to come to a conclusion whether or not he truly is a religious fanatic.

      Inslayer ago

We can't come to any such conclusions, plus it's the Author's own choice, and we have no say in that matter.

That said, this is my gripe with this situation:

      [Quote]

Most are expressing their amazement and dumbfoundedness, with a fair share of the lot arguing about the reason he is dropping the novel. Granted, less people would say anything if he said it was his choice to drop it to focus more on his relegion, than him being forced by it.

Quote: From the Author It hurts me to say this, since having my story enjoyed was a phenomenal thing to me (and we haven't even reached the good parts, yet!), but I will no longer be continuing this story or any story.

It was a decision he made by himself as stated by his words, but clearly forced to do it because of Christianity, giving a very different message than the one I know about my religion.

In my comment, I'm even wondering whether he's going ascetic, albeit not without a comment of sarcasm before it.

This story is neither vulgar nor does it touches any sensitive topics in Christianity so to drop this in the name of Jesus Christ doesn't makes any sense except for becoming an ascetic or a religious nut.Maybe this is all a practical joke(though it appears not as he deleted Patreon).Maybe dropping a story for lack of time or lack of interest or a burnout or hell even a spat between author and readers maybe believable but

      Well, I see your point.

Sigh, nontheless, if the author ain't comming back the least we can do is wish him a farewell journey.

If this is all true then...

Hits me like Truck-senpai. Really loved the freedom vs. paternalism ethos of your story, never pegged you as a devout Church goer. Still thanks for work and wish you good luck, and perhaps by some miracle you might find some compromise again.

Consider keeping the story here? I think I might want to reread it sometime.

Jesus christ, you sure you didn't get hit by a scam there? That does not sound like something legit lol.
