Derrick is no ones hero.  He is barely dealing with his mundane life when all of humanity is forced to confront the extraordinary. Overnight, all across the world, mysterious machines appear. They offer people the chance to purchase almost anything they can think of. Weapons, medicine and even super human abilities are offered, seemingly for free.

But following these machines, come the Scourges. The most dangerous creatures, diseases and machines that infest the universe. Ever growing and battling, these empires of horror and hunger will overhelm and devour the Earth and its inhabitants. Unless Derrick and humanity can stand against all the horrors that battle between the stars.

My first Story, an attempt to turn the standard fantasy litrpg apocalypse into a Sci Fi. Trying for a slower build to power for the MC, so don't expect him to have cheat powers. I delight in helpful crticism so no holding back plz.

So I was really reluctant to start reading this story for some reason, so glad I did though. The protagonist isn't one of those typical two dimensional characters I often find in stories. Actually all the characters feel pretty real and human. The author nailed the horror and sci-fi elements for me and the litrpg is the icing on the cake. Even managed to slip in a little romance that didn't make me immediately sneer in disdain.

Anyway, definitely worth trying out at least, especially those of you who are on the fence!

Just read trough the series to chapter 3.44 from scratch in 2 days and the verdict is: This series is simply fantastic!
The setting is unique, intressting powers, the characters aren't one dimensional and it's not too predictable either.

Good work Mirrored, continue like this!

A Top Fiction for this Website

Never have I read an apocalype story that actually feels so apocalyptic.  The monsters so monstrous.  It is actually quite the shock as I am used to MCs slaughtering monsters for xp, not stumbing from one encounter to another by the skin of their teeth.  It satisfies that power growth itch while still maintaining the horror the author has so carefully sculpted.  This story has a system put in place to help defeat the monsters, not introduce them.  One of the more realistic stories for introducing LitRPG mechanics.  I hope more people find and read this.

I'm at 4.16 and it's an excellent story so far.  There are some rough patches, but nothing that'll cause one to drop the story.

It's the usual apocalyptic tropes. An anti-social loner becomes a badass when the world ends, aliens invade, and humanity is brought to the brink of extinction.  He survives through sheer grit, determination, and a lot of luck.

But it's done with enough imagination and skill that it is not boring or a copy of other such stories.  The characters are somewhat realistic, with realistic goals and needs. People realize they are in a war for survival.

The aliens are interesting, the method in which they manage to get to earth is very well done.  Humanity wouldn’t be able to stand up against a fleet of OP space aliens in starships.  The differing groups fighting for Earth is also an interesting aspect.

Power and growth of the characters are well paced.  It isn’t training montages or a ‘glitch’ in the system that allows the characters to get stronger, but simple grit, determination, and luck; also using resources creatively.

Excellent story, overall.

Mild Spoilers:

Possibly the most underrated story I've come across on Royal Road. The System integration is done better than any story I've read thus far, and I love the fact that due to its nature (it's not some perfect, omniscient entity, but a program with entities helping to guide it) and therefore it makes mistakes and has exploitable holes that the enemies can make use of.

If you enjoy integration, lit-rpg style this. Its character development, world-building, and plot progression is some of the best I've read in YEARS. Seriously, this author needs more attention.

Best sci-fi on this website

An engaging and fast paced story. The aliens are truely alien and the system is well thought. It only lack on the characterization department, still better than most other fictions in rrl.

Enemies seems to be very powerful but they are actually very stupid. Mc is a dense dumbass. Anything else is not very bad.

I know you're coming here for relieving stress so I am not going to make very serious review. So storywise everything is good. You can feel the oppression in the first chapters but later story goes downhill from my perspective. Characters feels very forced to me.
