Derrick is no ones hero.  He is barely dealing with his mundane life when all of humanity is forced to confront the extraordinary. Overnight, all across the world, mysterious machines appear. They offer people the chance to purchase almost anything they can think of. Weapons, medicine and even super human abilities are offered, seemingly for free.

But following these machines, come the Scourges. The most dangerous creatures, diseases and machines that infest the universe. Ever growing and battling, these empires of horror and hunger will overhelm and devour the Earth and its inhabitants. Unless Derrick and humanity can stand against all the horrors that battle between the stars.

My first Story, an attempt to turn the standard fantasy litrpg apocalypse into a Sci Fi. Trying for a slower build to power for the MC, so don't expect him to have cheat powers. I delight in helpful crticism so no holding back plz.

Inspired, Insane, Interesting.  These three words describe this work above all else. It is a work that speaks of the struggle of humanity against things so alien they cannot be understood, let alone reasoned with, despite that they can be fought and The System gives sentients the chance to take their own future with blood and sweat. This really is worth your time to read.

The only problem until now is that Derrick seems to take murder in stride without ever really dealing with the fact that the grey agents were humans or the PILE of human bodies around the siren... He is way too indifferent to be really relatable (the story in itself is really great but without more personal struggles it only becomes a long serie of missions and accidents)

The best litrpg apocalypse out here

Trully one of the best, do check this story out.

What I think that set this story apart from the ilk like it, is that you feel that things are actually at stake. Normally it would be society broken down in the first hout but not in this story, therefore there is something more at stake rather mere survival. You really feel that should they fail, they would be all dead and thats rare in this kind of sub-genre where any utako loser could eek out a living despite everything being blown over.

Also, what I also like about is that the main character isn't super duper lucky, getting a secret class or getting a boost by killing the first monster or any once a billion thing. He gets the same tool as everybody, only differentiating himself through hard-work and being a callous sociopath.

Speaking of a sociopath, you don't get that allot but it just make sense in this kind of setting. Often times I would cringe when we have some self-righteous prick as an mc in a setting where survival is key but having the MC in this story suit it very well, where you have nothing to worry about but yourself and having your mind elsewhere would prove fatale.

Thx for the stoy mr author and I hope you continue your work.

Imagine meetnig an alien race, that has never met any humans. Imagine describing how humans interact with eachother, and then imagine an incompetent alien writing a novel about humans. This is basically it. Also, the horror tag is pretty much obsolete.

Characters:

Oh boy. The characters have no defining character traits. With one exception, which is a stereotypical gym guy. Though that same gym guy also likes puns. Sadly, puns do not work well when a single one is told multiple times in the same conversation. Everybody behaves solely on the premise of pushing the "plot" further, most of the dialogue being a "tell don't show" kind of a thing. Definitely the biggest concern. Also, the main character loves to do illogical things, that are somehow the best option every time (insofar).

Story:

I have not encuntered such a thing. I may have only read the first 3 chapters, but the premise should have been set as soon as possible. And a generic apocalypse is not a valid plot.

Grammar:

Nothing bad over here. I am not a linguist, so this is not really my concern. I'm not even English, so i wouldn't notice an error anyway.

Style:

All over the place. It changes on a whim. The first chapter tries to pull off a grand and unknown kind of an atmosphere, but fails miserably. The author does not seem to undrstand, that using big words doesn't make the thing you're describing seem more impressive all by itself.

Overall:

We have all seen this story play out. The characters are something quite new though. Not every book can regularly have conversations with as many as 4 "long silences" in them. At least that's somewhat interesting. Not a good read. Go out, do some work, do whatever but read this novel, I implore you.
