This is one of the best cultivation stories i have ever read, the characters are memorable, the realms are cool, the plot is amazing, and every time I read a chapter i feel like i am reading xinxias for the first time.
But there is one issue the release speed is sooooooooo slow and i encourage everybody to support this story be it with positive reviews, rating the story or anything you can do to hopefully make the authore write more
Disclaimer:I dont know the author, i just want more chapters
Updates as of chapter 70: I feel bad for not being able to rate this higher, the last few chapters have been so goooood and shown us 2 sides of a story we rarely see(lets not get into spoilers hehe) and that in my opinion were very well done and these characters just keep getting more and more real, if the author ever finishes this story and keeps up this quality i think this can be on the better side of xinxia stories released.
Loving it.

As of chapter 50:
Don't let the self-deprecating title or the generic synopsis fool you. This is a great fiction. The story flows smoothly. The characters are likeable and fully fleshed out. The execution is masterful (and I don't use that word lightly).
At 550+ pages there is still no harem in sight. So no rushing and failing there like so many lesser fictions do.
"A Very Cliche Xianxia Harem Story" is only "cliché" if cliché means similar to the great Xianxias, the likes of Stellar Transformations (but with a more likeable cast, in my smug and snobbish opinion).
I don't want to hype it too much but– f*ck it. I'm hyping it. This a superb fiction, and if it delivers on what has been hinted so far, it's going to be one of my all time favourites. It deserves more love, so read it.
I haven't noticed much grammar issues, but I ain't an authority on the subject.
The only "negative" point, as pointed out in other reviews, is the slow release rate. But seeing as the author has been posting steadily for more than 25 months, instead of burning themselves out in three weeks with daily releases as seemed the trend these days, I'm willing to call this a positive instead.
Review amendment: With all that said, if you're looking for a fast and brutal power hike with a self-righteous OP lead and lots of arrogant bad guys being pummelled for not seeing Mount Tai... then this is not it, and you're probably going to get bored.
Note: I know giving almost 5 stars in every category seems like an exaggeration. But those are my sincere thoughts.
At the end of the long first arc (chapter 31), the author asked in a bottom note "What worked and what didn't work for you in this arc?" And thinking about it, I found I couldn't think of a single genuine bad point, nothing I thought didn't work, and nothing I could have done better.
Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe if I re-read it I'll have another opinion. But at this moment, I'm in love.
Good read

Im glad that you sped up the updates, with its slow pace and slow releases i was doubtful that it will ever end or go anywhere. And that would of been sutch a shame!
So here i am giving it 5 stars, in hope that it will motivate you, atleast a little bit, to keep up with daily updates. Im sure that if you do so you'll get alot more readers = more patreon and everyone wins! Or atleast i think so.
Hidden Gem of Royal Road

This story is not highly placed, but it should be. It is an interesting story that, while including many of the common tropes and plots, doesn't fall into many of the traps that plague fictions here on RR.
The writing is great, the editing is up to par, the only bad thing about it is the descriptions can sometimes be a little stilted, and the chapters feel rather short, though these are entirely in my eye.
Great humor, characters, emotions, drama

This story has a nice balance of action and wholesome human interactions mixed with the generic xianxia greed and arrogance
Story arcs very clean and wrapped up, every 60-70 chapters you get a nice payoff from the build up of the previous several arcs
Many great characters, some not so interesting characters but they never overstay their welcome
Not the best romance for my taste but it's not wholly detrimental to the story, very slow burn and doesn't consume the rest of the plot, I enjoy every bit of communication and diplomacy in this story people talking things out is nice to see
Not for me.

The sexism is just a bit much, and apparently doesn't improve over time. Dropped it at chapter 32, after a conversation about how you can never trust women and some arranged marriage junk. Also the only female character so far just existing to be married off to the first person who comes along, or the second, if the first one happens to die.
Best in class!

Xianxia done extremely well. Characters are 3-D (and we don't get entire chapters about their tits/jade-like-skin etc...), events make some degree of sense (it's xianxia after all), the MC works for his powerups and isn't steamrolling people left and right.
My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that there isn't enough to read. I found Ave Xia Rem Y last week, and read through 3 years worth of chapters in a couple of slow days at work. Why must the author do things in his life other than being chained to a keyboard and forced to type?!?!
Pacing is just right overall, a bit slow at times, but that's always been the calm before the storm (during which you'll have a your hands full keeping track of all the events).
Mat Haz isn't scared to (mild spoilers)
create extremely likeable and interesting characters, then kill them off; or force MC to put up with and work around flawed characters, which is a rarity for this genre. Gone is the Kill/Subordinate/Fuck character categorisation of many a xianxia / litrpg (which this isn't).
All in all, I'd like to see more, and especially more cultivation.
Great job to the author, please keep it up!
Author Should Change the Title
Reviewed at: Chapter 108: An Element of Cleansing
Really the only demerit to this story is its title.
Also it isn't greatly accurate. Yes there is cliches but they are more so cliche in being staple of the genre. Even then it often diverges.
Not a young master. From a great lineage. No Divine treasures gained yet. Has not properly face slapped.
The characters are very fun and well written. The morality of the protagonist is very palatable. He cares of every person but he doesn't like people. It the ideal of people he believes in.
10/10 wish there was more.
Delivers on promises
Reviewed at: Chapter 174: Worth
This is one of many attempts to westernize Xianxia. I like the idea behind the genre a lot, less so the Chinese execution of it.
Mat Haz understands the genre rules and cliches very well leaving most of them unchanged.
There are a few deviations from the Xianxia norm -
The author slows the pace down which leads to the second deviation.
The characters, Liu Jin especially, are human and likable the slower pace allows more time for buildup and makes the reader invested in the characters. not making them murder-hobos like most Chinese Xianxia helps to.
The author promises "A Very Cliche Xianxia Harem Story!" and delivers.
Any Xianxia reader will recognize many of the plot points, the little twist on top make the familiar and somewhat cliched story engaging and better than the original.

Like a wolf in sheep's clothing
Reviewed at: Chapter 118: I Do Not Mind
You may wonder why I made such a title. First of all, I had seen the harem title before I read this story. I knew I wouldn't like it. Despite that, the story hooked up and I moved on. Despite this, the perception of the world revolving around the protagonist was as evident as other harem stories.
I want to say this. I am definitely not against harem stories. What I'm against is acting like a moral person and taking the second wife. This is not a moral quality. Not at all. And I'm sure 3 and 4 will come in later parts. What pulled me out of the story was that the protagonist was a wolf in sheep's clothing. It doesn't matter if an immoral character has a million wives. But to say that he is moral is nothing short of shameful.
And if the author turned a corner in the future, forgive me. Because I can't go any further and my review only covers 118 chapters where I read it.
In other subjects, I cannot say that I pay much attention to grammar. So I'm skipping that. I already talked about the character, but I must say that his tolerance towards certain events made me feel like I was reading a different story. Maybe I gave the character a lower grade than the others, but that's why I still gave the character a low grade. Because he was moral.
