Meet Threadbare. He is twelve inches tall, full of fluff, and really, really bad at being a hero. Magically animated and discarded by his maker as a failed experiment, he is saved by a little girl. But she's got problems of her own, and he might not be able to help her.

Fortunately for the little golem, he's quick to find allies, learn skills, gain levels, and survive horrible predicaments. Which is good, because his creator has a whole lot of enemies...

After the main twist, It got very predictable

Every mini-arc after the main twist was easy to predict and the ending became very painfully obvious by the reunion. Read the first part nof any mini arc and you can know the ending by making very few logical leaps and knowing the story will turn out well.

I predicted almost 90% of the endin by the first chapter of the dwarves except a few minor things, but if you just keep in mind that the story will end well, it becomes all too easy to predict the next plot points even up to the ending.

Somehow by the end it feels like Threadbare is almost a self-insert character just getting with the author's waifu (Though even by the end Cecelia felt bland compared to most of the cast), it made me just feel akward reading through the final chapters because it felt like there was an unneeded flirtation between the two. Most of the (Very little) romance in this book felt natural as if it had been there for years, but this felt completely out of place for the two.

The other meh thing in this book are most the cast of characters feel like if you replace them, the story feel like you could replace them with another character without any real change (Or just take them out entirely). It takes me out of my reading when I stop reading for a few hours (e.g. school or work) and then come back and completly forget who a charcter is and by the wrapping up chapters I had forgotten half the mentioned characters even though I read this in three days.

All in all even though this is a better story than most on the website, it definately does not deserve to be praised as highly as it is.

The Armies Converge!

Read this story a while back, but its still fresh on my mind. An adorable tale about a horrendous plot. Unique twist which I really liked, can't wait for new chaps to finally come out! Honestly the little bear had no chance in my mind but by the powers invested in authors he shall survive !!!!

First off, I want to say that I enjoy(ed) this story. It's definitely better than most on this site, though whether it deserves the no. 1 spot is debatable. Personally, I think it had the potential to be a lot better than it currently is. This is less of a review and more of a rant, so sorry about that.

Spoiler: Spoiler

Maybe I'm just being thick and not getting the light atmosphere at all, but I feel that certain elements of this story are just too incongruous for it to really work as well as it could.

The story is original, the characters are nuanced, and the setting is interesting. It doesn't take itself too seriously and has great humor, but without compromising drama and tension. It's just good writing, plain and simple. Read it.

Currently my favourite novel on Royalroadl. It's original, funny and adorable.

Honestly can't think of another novel on Royalroadl that's been this enjoyable for me.

I'm a sucker for non-human protagonists, which is how I found this story. This is what you might get if you mashed your usual LitRPG story up with the Velveteen Rabbit, a sprinkle of Oz and a dash of Toy Story.

This could easily have been a gimmicky one-shot, but the author does some wonderful nuanced world-building, espeically considering how naive the main character starts as, with plenty of hints of a larger, darker plot with complications and its mysteries to come. The characters are engaging, and Threadbare's unique struggles to cope with his world, which he has absolutely no experience with, are well-written and sympathetic.

The plot does hit some familiar points, but lays the groundwork for them honestly instead of pulling them out of the author's butt, and while Threadbare looks like he's well on his way to becoming an epically powerful creature, it doesn't change the hilariously charming fact that he's a FREAKING TEDDY BEAR.

Definitely deserves it's place at the top!

awesome world? check! underestimated MC? check!

Balanced powers? Out of the box thinking? good story? check check check.

insanely, it's working, a fluffy toy became my hero!

Though there are a few holes to it (pun intended), it managed to hook me quickly to it's rapidly evolving world and nicely paced storyline.

The story is definitely worth reading!
