3-4 books worth of 0 plot progression

the story is really good at keeping people reading because everything about the world is great, but the draw back is that flushing out the world becomes way too hard. the author boxed themselves in and after 1200 pages basically nothing has happened, it's all just a tutorial. 4 full length books worth. I'd say reading this is a waste of time since there is never a payoff, just constant teesing.

overall story quality is decent though so 4/5 but i wouldnt recommend this to anyone unless some enjoyable plot filled side stories in the same world appeared.

A really good story with awesome crafting chapters.

While crafting is the main course, the MC plays a VRMMO so we still get the usual dungeon action. The MC has a well build character and we are able to understand why he does things the way he does.

While it took some time to build up to a plot, at vol. 5 we get a sense where the story may be going. But while it took much time for a build up, the worldbuilding is pretty solid.

Last but not least, the MC is not that OP to break the story.

Spoiler: Spoiler

This story takes a different approach from the classic VRMMOs. It starts off interesting, giving us some simple background of the character and giving him an aim for this supposedly new game. However, the difference between this story and the other VRMMOs is that, the story moves at a relatively slow pace. On the one hand people dislike this, one the other its a nice turn from the usually insanely fast progression which you would normaly get in this genre.

At the beginning you started off slow and used multiple chapters to describe his smithing skills and knowledge. However, later you skip some of the criteria for his quest, to speed up the story. I believe that you should either stick to slow or fast progression. Doing a mix of each and skipping to the next topic makes this story unfocused and confusing.

Overall this story is decent, and generally a lot better then most of the writing on this site. It has a unique idea, but sadly wasn't executed well. Hopefully you can bring back the story in Vol. 5

Excellent Crafting VR Story so Far!

I'm loving the story so far!

It has great potential to balance between crafting, fighting, magic, and exploring/adventuring in the game world!

Too many crafting stories have MC's in a static location and situation without a lot of adventures or battles but the plot progression is having a great balance between them all and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Binge Read it in 2 days

Little bit different take on a fantasy MC that I really enjoy. If you are even a little bit into crafting you'll probably enjoy it as well. There's enough action to keep things interesting and the characters are well thought out and developed. I must have enjoyed it if I got from beginning to book 5 in two days.

The story is decent enough but there are some things that drag it down.

1. The MC has acts stupid for what I assume are plot reasons. For example he complains about not knowing how his eyes work but doesn't experiment with them. There are a bunch of eye based powers he could try but I only recall him half heartedly trying to use X ray vision once. He also hasn't searched the forums for vision based innate talents. Only his specific one. He still doesn't know what the death penalty is because he hasn't bothered looking that up either. He also never looks behind him to check if he's being followed which allowed him to be stalked. Even after he knew he was stalked he never checked and continued to get stalked.

2. His supposed Master has barely taught him anything at all. I would think that he had tricks and such like the MC knew how to temper the metal but for the other professions but he's pretty much only told the MC the basic process of their crafting style and left him to his own devices. For all the time the MC spent with them it doesn't seem worth it.

3. MC wants to be a nice guy that's offended at being accused of being a kidnapper and a callous weapons dealer who will sell to whoever.

4. The pacing is super slow. I can't imagine this story being finished when the author usually takes several chapters to cover a single day. Nobody cares about what the MC is eating everyday. I can only hope for a snowball effect with his Quick Learner Innate ability to make him learn things insanely quickly to speed things up.

Another thing to worry about is annoying cliches. The MC has wings and a baby wolf pet(that turns into a girl). I can't really see the wolf making the story better in any way.

A lot of just strait up crafting, but still a good read.

Boring, can't read anymore.

So i read it all to the vol.5 ch.39 at the moment and since be began his travel, it's boring. Nothing much happen, he's playing a massive game in which there a lot of player and he don't cross any. I know the player/npc are similar but there's no interaction at all with the other player it seems, he's a loner tough and throught.

Good, but progessively more unfocused

I like crafting stories, and this is a good one. However, as the story progresses, it seems to drift further away from exploration of the crafting mechanic and more towards mundane adventuring.

I really like the thoughts the main character has on crafting, and the detail put into that, but not that much detail has to be put into everything. The entirety of Vol.5 Ch.20 could be summerized as

Spoiler: Spoiler

I think you might be trying to set something up for later with that subplot, but right now it just feels like clutter, not fluff. And the entire chapter summed up in about three sentences. Nothing happened.

This entire travel sequence could have been summed up in a single chapter. And then we move on. Sometimes fluff is good. Unfortunately fluff about traveling is just as boring as traveling in real life.

Honestly, can only recommend to the end of the Acadamy arc.
