Quick Take: Remember Jack of None, Master of All? Better than that, because the main character ISN'T a crippled magic sex goblin, which is a huge step up.

Worst thing I can say about this story so far is the tense tends to drift back and forth between present and past, mainly in the early chapters.  The spelling is 99%, just the occasional typo that basic spellcheck would miss.

As for the actual story, it's a heavy detail craft story. Half a chapter is devoted to manufacturing a single item. If that is good or bad is a matter of personal taste.

Good story, but needs polish

pro:

The story is very interesting and well-written so far and I am glad that the author stuck with the crafting focus and didn't abandon it half-way like so many other stories.

cons:

The regular switches to present tense are quite jarring though and have not been fixed in earlier chapters.

The author goes into too much detail which makes the read quite arduous at times. I really don't need to know every last assembly step for the welder or the grenade. If you trim the story down a bit the flow will get quite a lot better and I won't feel the need to skip half of the descriptions when the MC crafts something.

1 Star for 40 reasonably entertaining chapter

The good thing about this novel is, the first chapters make it sound like it could be good.
The bad thing is, it drops from good to REALLY bad in the 3rd story arc.

Utter waste of time unless the authors decides to rewrite "volume 3" to make a least a little bit of sense, instead of the convoluted, uninspired light novel copy & paste it is right now.

interesting and hyper-sophisticated game world

(as of Vol. 3 Epilogue (i.e. the 82th total chapter))

'Age of Gods' is a VRMMO game and the protagonist is entering it on the release day. It was years in the making with lots of feedback from experienced players (including the protagonist) and that shows, as it feels 100% life-like. It feels so real that the players are not allowed to refer to it being a game for them or let the NPCs know they are NPCs. The protagonist usually played expert crafters in the other games and he plans to repeat that in AoG. When he learns about the Magitech skill he wants to learn that, but the grumpy dwarf that could teach him has some requirements first...

Style: The story is written in third-person style from the protagonist's limited view. The narration feels harmonious. The grinding parts feels a bit repetitive though.

Story: The world is presented detailedly and that makes the people feel alive and the skill system is sound. The protagonist learns very quickly and it often feels like he is progressing too fast, but Word of God tells us that other players are progressing even faster. It's interesting to finally have a crafter protagonist.

Grammar: Very good, the spelling is almost perfect.

Characters: The protagonist wants to become a great crafter and he follows that goal against all difficulties, even when with a little work on the side he could easily gain additional skills. This feels a bit narrow-minded. At the same time he is not a simple person as he has other thoughts and feelings, both grand and trivial. The other people are each shown as having their own personalities though we aren't shown much depth for most of them.

Doth mine eyes deceive me? A crafting story that actually uses proper smithing terminology like tang? I find this story a delightful basket of surprises. Near perfect spelling and grammar, a great crafting beginning filled with real life examples of actual crafting (The smithing in particular), surprises galore that keep the reader on their toes and wonderful building of backstory for the characters.

So, where to start?

I suppose the grammar and spelling first since that's the easiest. It's near flawless. I can't remember reading a single mistake off the top of my head, although I may find some if I were to reread it looking for them. Normally a lot of stories on this site have occasional hiccups in their word choice or spelling that really jolt a person out of their immersion in the story. I have yet to be jolted out of my immersion which attests to the writers skill in this regard.

Style, I'm not too sure how to rank style on this website, but fantasy lovers and litrpg lovers alike can enjoy this book.

Story, like I said. A basketful of surprises. And that's what I like the most about this novel. It surprises you. I read a lot of stuff online, and after a while you begin to notice that they all follow trends and become predictable. And eventually, predictableness leads to boredom. I've dropped several novels before in the past due to them becoming far too predictable. I don't think I will ever have that problem with this novel.

Also, to those complaining about certain plot points that have come up recently about the character not being able to choose stuff, that's life. We can't always choose what hand we're dealt, and I like the realism of that in this story.

Characters, really well done. The interactions between the characters feel realistic and lifelike. The story and the characters are intertwined a lot in scoring in my opinion. A great story is normally determined by well fleshed out characters. And this succeeds. It also keeps you on your toes with tantalising hints about certain characters pasts. Masterfully done. I look forward to discovering more about the characters as the plot progresses further.

In conclusion, this novel is really fantastic, and I highly recommond it. Expect to be surprised.

The book is great and has a events that I vibe with. I personally can’t wait for this novel to get to the later Stages of the game. Well worth the read.

Keep up the good work!

So, i managed to gobble it up in two days (nights...thanks for the lack of sleep, dearest author!) and i have to say this some entertaining piece of work!

The style is excelent for my taste! No shit-talks, the characters are loveable or hateable, and the worldbuilding is excelent in my opinion. One little addition to the past of our MC's "legendary" background would have made him more of a serious character, but i think the past reveal will come eventually when he meets his old friends.

Then again, i think this is my first "serious" review in more than 2 years of reading on this site, so take my words as a regular and normal fantasy loving guy's personal opinion. Thank you dear author for this entertaining novel, and i hope you will continue this story because i, and i bet, a tons of other people like your story! Sorry for my poor grammar!

definitely one of my favorite reads on here. I'm obsessed with the crafting aspects of vrmmo since I got started on them with LMS and this one does a wonderful job of fleshing out the creation side of the world/game. It does go away from pure crafting for a somewhat moderately sized arc, but there's a logical reason for it and it only enhanced the crafting. Altogether a well written and well thought out story that is worth the time to read. (Also worth the patreon IMHO, but I'm incredibly impatient lol)

An unfolding manuscript

As of vol.4 chap.1, A more than welcome, comfortable read with a pace that isn't rushing too much and takes time for things to unfold. Like how I titled the review, it feels like I am writing a pre-publishing manuscript draft that has already been checked and rechecked but still has a little bit of fat to trim of before getting turned into a book.

It may not be for some, but I do like the style and pace it has and considering the VRMMO base. The story still strongly stands on its own from the multitude with the way it is written in.

There may be a spot error here and there with the grammar but nothing that breaks the thread of the story. The characters are all well and amusing personalities that make up a nice and cohesive flow of the plot.

A bit of want though is the lack or need of more imagery for some things and scense. Thanks good sir for the interesting tale and keep up the wonderful work.
