I tale that started in the begining, end and yet quite in the middle.
A story about a soul that wanted a simple life, life defined by his own choices and not the whims of fate, or gods. Yet no one cared, he was sold in to slavery, mentaly abused, his mind flayed, and even killed only to come back to life as an antagonist to some 3rd rate hero seeking redeption for his sins.
And finally due to a little kindness he was able to start a new with a clean slate, redy to grow just as a blade of grass should.

Good story idea
Wow, never would have thought it would be fun to read about grass growing
Well done cliche
The story is great! The grammar is good and style's fine. The reason the story and character score are 3 and 4 respectively is that the story seems to turn into a cliche for a bit. The characters are great, but I can't actually grade characters properly without further chapters.
Advice: Just like what's been done, I hope you use multiple POVs often in the future as well, I enjoyed that thoughts and actions were further explored.
