Gwen Song awoke in a world that was not her own, in which everything she was familiar with had been replaced. Instead of airplanes and electricity, this 21st-century Earth is ruled by magic and dragons; humanity survives in a land of magical beasts and otherworldly beings, protected by shielded enclaves and magical constructs.

Follow Gwen across the world as she struggles to rebuild her life in this strange new reality. Behold a tale of adventure, friendship, and (of course), magic! Witness as she grows from a simple grade school student to a fully-fledged Mage, through university and beyond, discovering the secrets of a world made unreal by magic and mysticism.

I’ve got nothing done!

I found this title through a link on Facebook and started reading, intending to pass a few minutes reading. Yep, a few minutes. Since then, 218 chapters and 1,000,000 words later, I have got nothing else done at all. Riveting and all consuming. I am totally in love with this literary Gwen. Thank you, Wutosama.

Great story, great magic system!

I had this story on my to read list for 6-7 months, and started to read it a few times without really getting in to it. However this friday somewhere around chapter 20 i got hooked, and read up to chapter 177 by sunday. Now i am patiently waiting for the next chapter!

ps. the university magic clases are the best!

Isekai meets chinese fantasy, all in western style.

This is a story of a 30-is australian office lady in the economic sector going to bed and waking up in a world of fantasy and terror where man goes on the menu right next to the fried rice and general tso's chicken (which isn't actually chinese BTW).

Grammar - the often black sheep of these wonderful arts, since many of the authors are either poor in the english department or simply don't speak it natively.
The grammar of the author is fairly good, although some errors do occur - mostly in long and complex words, and that's usually substituting an "e" for an "a" or the other way. very negligible, and the story MORE than makes up for it.

They're diverse and plentiful - some are more forgettable and matter less and later in the story you'd be forgiven for forgetting a thrid of the lesser ones, but those that matter, have a clear character built, have their habits, speech patterns, and feel like people rather than a ventriloquist talking from multiple mouthes.

Apparently australians can transmigrate - who knew?
Without spoiling too much, you are treated to a story about an adult woman getting a second chance on life in what can only be described as an alternate, magical, and extremely hostile reality. lots of hilarity, abject terror, villains you love to hate, and tense, entertaining (and slightly revolting) combat.
Don't expect an HP bar, here the life points are measured in severed limbs and lengths of guts.

The author is clearly influenced by chinese fiction quite heavily, and subsequently makes it their bitch and parades it around town in a micro-thongqini. While chinese elements remain, the story is clearly western in style and has a unique soul to it, to the point where I binged it in four and a bit days and felt robbed when I discovered it only had 243 chapters out so far.

Updates seem to be regular enough, with a chapter every 4-ish days with moderate length, totaling to around 9 chapters a month.

This isn't a "The wandering inn", but the style and quality puts it in the same league - few manage to put out the quality and sheer overwhelming quantity piratebea can pump out, twice a week,
This isn't a chinese fantasy with a somewhat racist-sexist protagonist that collects waifus like yu-gi-hoe cards (get it? hoe? hah.) and wipes out towns because he asked for croutons and got one too few.

What this is, is an honest-to-god, true to the almighty cangooroo, ORIGINAL story with metric fucktons of content and lore, and increadible potential.

I doubted for a month and a half whether to read this, and regretted those moments dearly.

It grabs you, and won't let go.

So - this is not the most well written story I've read. It's not even the most well written web based story I've read - but it's damn close. The story grabbed me from the start, and hasn't let go in over 270 chapters.

There are som grammar related errors here and there in each chapters, which is only natural since the author is writing (on his phone, no less) and editing himself - but I dare say it has gotten significantly better since the early chapters.

The characters are a bit high and low; there are a number of them that are quite fleshed out, while there are also a few that feels flat and generic - mainly various antagonists. The MC, Gwen, is intriguing, and it has a depth to her - although, to be a bit critical, it feels like that depth takes a vacation every now and then.

Overall, it's a damn good story, and I will definitely stick with it until the end. Sure, some things are solved a little too conveniently for Gwen, but it's not too jarring, and it's certainly better than many other stories. What is really amazing is, despite over 270 existing chapters, the story feels like it's just getting started - I take this to mean that we will be able to enjoy the Metaworld for a few years to come still. Yay!

I would class this as one of the best novels of this website at the moment and is one I would recommend to read.

Style: I really like the style of the story. I can't really call it special however it reads well, which alongside the good pacing make it enjoyable to read.

Story: Story is constantly engaging, especially as it progresses. The pacing is mostly good despite some moments that seem to come out of nowhere (not necessarily bad though).

Characters: The main character in this is believable, likeable, and interesting. The other characters are also very good with strong character development. Many have backstories and unique motivations. The development of characters is also well paced - enough growth to feel satisfying while also having a good amount of room to continue growing (something many stories fail to properly balance).

Grammer: All good here. Reads well, and mistakes are always fixed.

Overall: Really good. Recommended reading this.

*bonus for regular and lengthy chapters

Best female mc story in RR

reading the book for the past few months and I had to make a account here to rate it. The book is very detailed. Chara are engaging and if you get just past the first fifty chapter I think you will also come to love our void sorceress. Mc although had transmigrated and she will say that she is kinda adult she hasn't really matured completely. It's like living your young days but with more gusto. Like what if I had done this different. Her parents though trash you can also see that they are relatble you can find these type of people everywhere. P.S I am completely sure that she has a complex about daddy men type cause she thinks she never got close to him as he is completely hopeless. Her friends are her emotional support and when she finds herself in a pinch you will find her using the knowledge she has learn from here. And no not knowledge about modern science. But our great thinkers(philosophist) it could be annoying sometimes but in a world like that her plagiarizing is new and she also tries to use it always for her own needs I tell you her job was a business commerce one after all you know people' like her are. The world building so far has been described in many ways and times and it's going not bad. And the male character is definitely almudj he has been supporting her everywhere physically and mentally. You guys have heard men-women beastman-women time for ancient beings-women lol I am joking but the guy is possessive I tell you. Magic oh the magic I like how it's described and all but this while NOM shit was the hardest thing to take in. I personally believe that humans even in that world could do great and not just live like ants for mages service. Seriously everywhere they are always described as backward people living in slums and just because there is no law there heinous crimes are everywhere. But still it's my best fic in royal road for female mc story. Give it a try and big P.S girls will like those clothes description in every chapter it just goes over my head though.

Why did i have to catch up

One of those stories where you feel an immense amount of dissapointment when you finally catch up to the latest chapter.

Trying to read other stories while you wait for more releases doesn't either work because everything is just so subpar in comparison.

Pretty cool.

Good story

Good grammar

Good style

alright characters

Only problem is some of the characters are truly impossible. Like Evelynn (Evie) or whatever her name is. Gwen's usage of her name to calm down is pretty out-of-place. I don't understand how anyone would use "cuteness" as an anchor to reality. Really..... I mean, I guess it makes sense, but it is too unreliable? So yeah, if you can get past the first arc in Singapore (loads of cringey, weird interactions), the story's characters become more solid in the China arc.

But don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good plot points that make up for the cringey dialogue in the beginning. Just.... be prepared for a lot of unnecessary "cute" moments.

One of my favorites. Highly recommend!

Awesome Urban fantasy world with a very creative and unique magical system that ALMOST beaches into LitRPG and even though it may have a lot of influences and inspiration from d&d magical classes it has plenty of creative and distinctive traits that set it apart.

The characters have interesting personalities and the story flows well and the characters descriptions posted throughout the story are great with wonderful artwork.

Can't recommend this enough, especially with the frequent updates (since I've been reading at least.)

**Update: it keeps getting better!
