Real Fantasy Online. The flagship product for the latest generation neural-interface headset. Touting: "The Best NPC AIs", "Better than Life Realism" and "Total Immersion", RFO promises to be a virtual world like no other. But when the line between one's real self and one's digital identity becomes blurred, and the "Gods" have their own agenda, who is the player, and which is the game?

Marcus has played any number of VR games, beta-tested dangerous and unstable systems and lived to tell the tale. He even has a certain amount of fame and influence within...certain circles. He usually disdains the idea of pre-orders and their respective "perks" as blatent commerical exploitation, but this time the bonus is too tempting to pass up. The ability to craft your character's backstory and have it integrated into the game's lore is enough for him to sign up for the Early Access program. He isn't interested in being all-powerful. Frankly, he's been there and done that enough to be bored of the whole thing. Instead, he opts to make a character purely for the purpose of having fun. Things aren't quite what they seem however, and his "backstory" and character class have implications he never would have imagined.

Author Note: First time posting a story online, and I'd appreciate any feedback. Updates may be slow, as each "chapter" will likely be in the 10,000 word range and I tend to revise several times before being (tentatively) satisfied. If people seem to like this I'll try to establish a regular post schedule.

Very solid, but very short read

I really enjoyed the story, binge-read it two days. The real world part seems a little far-fetched to me, but I really appreciated VR concept and way of storytelling!

Keep up the good work!

I've been reading quite a lot of LitRPG and not many have kept me from sleeping just to keep reading.

This novel is amazing! The chapters are long and the story keeps you hooked. I was never good with Grammer to begin with but looks great to me. The way that I think this story is heading if the quality keep up with how it is now or gets even better(no clue how), this is going to be a very amazing story I would recommend to anyone who like this genre. Keep up the great work!

Just started and can't wait for more chapters if the author dropps this I would be so said I see

so many stories with so much potential just to stopped and dropped by their creators hope a month long break doesn't predict this can't wait for chapter 8

Sexual content and dark theme justified

Science and fantasy suit each other here.

A hands down 5/5 for me.

Good read, but fairly short and apparently no longer updating

Reviewed at: Session 7: Revelations

This is a decent story, but only seven (quite long) chapters and no updates for two years. It is also let down by a number of grammar mistakes and typoes especially at the start.

I've never read a novel that is so interesting plus badass PLUS unique

keep it up!

Good writing, bad story.

Spoiler: Spoiler

Dis he lose his memories in hame or something because he is not making any sense at all.

Boring, a teenage boy's fantasy.

Soulshard willbender is gramtically and structurally well put together, other than that it's awful.

This whole story reads like a teenage boy's fantasy. Overpowered MC whose character is slowly building his harem and is oblivious to his own charm and power.

It has no realistic aspects to it at all, and the author seems to not be able to decide where the story should go. The amount of references and pieces taken from other stories is god awful. At least make it somewhat less noticable.

On hiatus, but worth the read anyway

Reviewed at: Session 7: Revelations

This story is insanely good! I wish there where a couple more chapters, but it's worth your time as it is. Altough the last published chapter is sort of a cliffhanger, it also can be seen as the end of the original story, so taken like that, it all makes sort of sense!

Anyway! You won't regret reading this fiction.
