A note from Lone

I hope you enjoy.

"Huh, well, 'at's good. So I dinny 'ave te worry 'bout ye droppin' dead?" Grimsley asked Lone in a joking manner. He was very used to Lone's absurd abilities, and he knew some of them affected himself and Sophie, hence why he didn't seem too perplexed after Lone had explained his latest one to him.

"Yeah, I guess not. Also, if you use your points correctly, you might be able to live with Shana for a few more decades than before," Lone added which surprised Grimsley. He hadn't considered that, but now that Lone had mentioned it, it certainly sounded correct.

Grimsley never really got into particularly dangerous situations, what with being a blacksmith and all, so he could save up his life stats and use them to extend Shana's lifespan assuming she wished for that.

"Well, what time is it? I'd like to go to the tailor shop and the adventurers guild if there's enough daylight left," Lone asked before he lifted Sophie off of him and stood up. Sophie had relieved more than enough stress. Lone stretched a bit before Grimsley answered him.

"It's late afternoon. I dinny think the tail'r shop will be open. The adventur'rs guild should be, though," Grimsley replied to which Lone nodded before he got dressed and started to leave the room. However, just before he did, Sophie had grabbed his shirt and tugged it slightly.

"What's up, Soph?" Lone asked with worry in his voice. However, he soon noticed a small blush had made its way onto her face. Upon seeing this blush, Grimsley quickly left the room. He was a very tactful dwarf if ever there was one.

"I got one more of my powers back..." Sophie shyly mumbled. Lone was startled. Why? How? He had no idea why this had happened. Did it have something to do with his fight?

"Which one and how?" Lone asked with curiosity lacing his voice. He was really hoping it was her immortality one, that way he could stop worrying about her so much.

"My age transformation one... and... I-I got a notification after your fight saying... it said because you ranked up I unlocked a power..." Sophie said while her face was thoroughly flushed over by a sheet of crimson skin. She was happy that she had unlocked this somewhat useless skill because it would strengthen her relationship with the man she loved.

'Rank up? Did I become an E-Ranker? Did I break the level 100 barrier?'° Lone thought to himself. He decided to check his status card before he answered Sophie.

He swiftly took out said card and bit his finger before smearing the resulting blood over the piece of seemingly indestructible amber crystal. Lone then inspected the changes that had appeared on the card.

"I really did rank up... I gained so many stats as well..." Lone whispered. He then had a quick moment of enlightenment.

"Wait, E rank and you unlocked a power... that means you still have seven powers left that are sealed, right?" Lone asked Sophie with his intrigue being practically visible to the naked eye. He was very interested in this whole thing. Maybe his ranks and her powers were tied together somehow.

"Yeah..." Sophie managed to utter. She was still very much embarrassed at what she and Lone could now do together.

"So seven more powers... seven more ranks... D, C, B, A, S, SS and SSS. Maybe you unlock a power each time I rank up?" Lone wondered aloud. He had found a connection between the two.

It would make some sense. Sophie already had her mana sensing, and teleportation unlocked even when Lone had first arrived on this planet. If he assumed those were a starting gift of sorts and that they were meant to be unlocked when he reached ranks H and G, then it would make a lot of sense for the remaining ones to unlock after each rank up.

"Soph, I understand what's going on in your filth-riddled mind, but for now, we'll go to the guild. Later tonight we'll sort that stuff out, okay?" Lone gently said and he then began petting her head lightly. He had obviously noticed what she wanted to try now that she had unlocked this power. However, there were other things to be done today.

"O-Okay," Sophie was very embarrassed at having been found out, although it wouldn't have taken a genius to realise what thoughts were swimming around in her mind.

The pair soon held each other's hand before they left the room and successively, the Coliseum. It would appear that they were in a healing room of sorts that was an extension of the main building itself. The two slowly walked their way to adventurers guild and soon reached it. At this point, Sophie's emotions had calmed down somewhat. There was still a small fire in her eyes and a rosy colour to her cheeks, but at least her entire head wasn't entirely crimson anymore.

Lone quickly pulled Sophie along to one of the counters that didn't have too many people waiting in line to be served. It was soon Lone's turn and the middle-aged employee shifted her glasses a little bit before looking right into Lone's eyes, apparently unafraid of his racial features. Lone was quite honestly impressed with the staff here since almost every time he had come here the staff had treated him no differently from all of the other adventurers.

"How can I help you today, sir?" she asked Lone in a very professional manner.

"Yes, hello, I'm here to see the guildmaster. I need to do something for him, and he has something that belongs to me. Please inform him that Lone is here," Lone requested. He assumed that would be enough, if not, he would simply unsummon Sophie and sneak into the dragonkin's office like he did last time.

"Of course, sir. We've been asked to tell you to just head on up upon your arrival. I'm assuming you know the way, or would you rather I guided you, sir?" the receptionist politely asked. She was indifferent at first, however, upon realised that Lone was a valued guest of the guildmaster's she suddenly started behaving to the best of her ability.

"I know that way, but thank you all the same," Lone thanked the woman before he and Sophie headed towards the door that led up to Gilbert's office.

The two soon reached the door to his room, and Lone knocked on it a few times before he just chose to enter. He didn't see the point of waiting for a reply. Lone thought it was amazing that he even took the effort to knock before he intruded upon Gilbert's study.

"Why did you even bother knocking? Ha-ah. I heard you had some fun at the Coliseum today. It's a shame you got knocked out. The winner ended up fighting the prince himself. It was very entertaining, or so I hear," the guildmaster said with ample amounts of bitterness in his tone. He was very upset that he had missed such a sight since he was locked away in this room most of the day fighting his arch nemesis. Paperwork.

"Oh? That does sound like fun. Anyway, I came here to delete the contract on one of the slave girls, get Sophie's status card and tell you that I ranked up," Lone listed his reasons. "Also, I'd like a little bit more information on the auction that's being held tomorrow if you don't mind," Lone added after he remembered the event he had been mildly looking forward to ever since Gilbert informed him of its occurrence.

"That sound fine. Take a seat. I'll be back in a minute," Gilbert said before he disappeared. He was jubilant that he had found an excuse to run away from his work, even if only for a few minutes.
