An Everlasting. A title given to those who have reached a state closest to godhood. Be it through might and power or through love and compassion. These beings hold great influence over the realms.

This story is about Asura, a young orphaned child, who was taught the way of the blade and has mastered the Warrior Arts at a very young age. Given a recommendation by his master, Asura ventures out to broaden his horizons and to learn magic. Follow Asura’s journey and his quest to reach Everlastinghood.

Comment by the author:

Looking at the chapter list, you might have noticed Volume 1 is not there. The reason is that it’s in the process of being published so I’m somewhat restricted in where and how I can post it.

Edit. 18/04/2017

The first volume is now officially on sale. It is no longer possible to get the first volume for free. I am sorry but it was free for a long time and it was time for it.

However if you like to support me you can find th first volume here on Amazon (getBook.at/TheEverlasting)

Compared to other stories on Royal Road this one is faster paced. No artificial extensions of the story by spending forever in generic constructs, like random ranking tournaments, that don’t really matter for the overall plot. That’s the plan anyway. Volumes consist roughly of 30-35k words.

Additionally: I am not a native speaker, nor have I had any formal education in the English language. I am trying very hard to improve myself. If you want to help me by proofreading my story, shoot me a PM and we’ll see if we can arrange something. Other than my thanks and fake internet points I can’t offer anything, though. Yeah, poor student here…

Edit 22/06/2017

Hey the story is officially ended if i ever decide to continue it will be on another date. The ending is open for anyone to use their imagination. Thank you all for the support. I hope we could meet later in the Everlasting II.

Respectfully

Nice OP story, convoluded & fast story line

Grammar is mostly okay, some typical mistakes.

Characters behave odd sometimes - in a word over the top or naive.

Story is fine 4/5 due to convoluded plot.

Style is reduced due to powerlevel balance. Also advancement speed is to high. One example one day a guy can cast a lvl S spell with hard effort, after 3 days he can cast a SSS with a S class spell. But its good if you like OP chars.

Fantasy high school battle romance/harem story to the exact letter!

Edit: (dont compare the score i gave to other novels on this site as 5 stars are given away like candy)

Edit2:(i added a half star if not for the meh moment it could have been upped to 4 stars the story does indeed branch in unexplored territory but swims back asap hence only half a star got added)

Edit3:currently waiting for new chapters as i finished reading all (chap 5,8).

The reason i put romance/harem instead of only 1 of the 2 is because there is a change either of them wil come tru.

There are huge signs for the 2nd while at any time it can be a novel about multiple females liking the MC but only one girl wil be liked back.

As for one thing even tho my review wil make u think otherwise i did enjoy reading this novel.

Just read for the good and ignore the bad keep this mantra in mind and u wil really enjoy it.

Ok lets start with putting 2 huge things that are out in the open but ignored right in the spotlight....

1.This is a fantasy highschool shounen like novel (there have been multiple appearances of females that wil most likely for no reason at all fall in love with the MC Ice girl, big boobed enemy, maid san and the blond girl) So yea add Romance/harem to the list.

2.If you cannot endure the beginning then yes it becomes slightly less and it wil try to distinguish itself from the other typical Fantasy harems.... but it will not succeed(maybe for a bit) exception if this is exactly what u want GO FOR IT!

At least i have read from volume 1 till volume 2 chapter 4 and i think that is enought to understand the characters and where this story is trying to work towards to.

If the above is something that you can endure then you can read this in your free time (what other time would a person read anything anyway -.-).

Its a figure of speech just read it if u like these type of novels as it wil try to distinguish itself from the rest.It wil try meaning it wil mostly stay tru to the stereotype so you can enjoy a slight variation.

I expect there to be some branching endings that havent been explored yet or always get ignored in these stereotypical harem stories like a final winner (heroine) or some goal that will see its completion i just hope the author stays tru to this ending instead of a open one.

So i will keep reading this and i did enjoy quite some parts of it but u wil really need to ignore the bad to be able to enjoy the good this sentence stayed tru for the whole time i have been reading.

And yea i am a bit embarrassed of the comment i left at chatper v2,4 but it kinda is the chapter that motivated me to write this review as it was the final nail in mah brain to give my verdict.

I will give a short summary of why i gave these scores.

Style: Its the typical style where the Mc has no personality whatsoever so u can interset yourself in his shoes and enjoy the rollercoaster (reactions from the characters in the story) as its an exact copy with no improvement i can only commend the author for the effort and give him 3 stars for it.

Grammar: The author himself said his grammar aint so good but that isnt tru except for some obvious errors.

Like a very twisted sentence so now and then and the repeated use of U in situations he should have said You, its quite decent so 3 and half stars(even the most basic editor can clear these problems instantly pushing the score to 4 stars).

Story: I gave this 3 stars for the same exact reason as the style All the cliches are touched upon and many typical things are foreshadowed in its most basic form giving us a clear picture of what is about to happen leaving nothing to suprise.

The reason i was able to read on in the beginning is duo to the magic system, right about the time i was about to give up on reading I got some interessting tibids of a not completely clear picture triggering the inner fantasy feeling and hunger for more.

Sadly this is not build upon as super cheats and convenient powerups ruined any suspense for a more thought out system.

Characters: hm yea why did i give this a 2,5 star score? while the others got 3 stars its kinda weird indeed because i am more interessted in some chars than the actual story.

But i do have a good reason its because of the MC his character is rather bland he came to the school with a clear goal yet he is not living it up he is doing exactly the opposite of why he came and that is to enjoy a relaxing and engaging childhood with friends and everything else u can experience at a school.

As for some other characters they clearly act not for themself but for the plot and hooks that have compeltely no logical reason for it to happen.

An example SPOILER AHEAD would look like this:

Spoiler: Spoiler

I love this epic story. I like how relatable the character is and how when he goes through hardships and betrayals he just pushes onwards. I highly recommend this novel it is one of the best that I have ever read.

WOW! JUST WOW HOW DID I MISS THIS!

I was a silent reader for a long time here on royal...but this story made me want to speak.

THIS IS AMAZING!

The story is complex beyond anything I have ever seen here on royal road, this however only shows later on, when the author begin telling the lore of the story in an amazing way, linking events that happened earlier with events that will happen later on, making an amazing and really disturbing paradox.
The story starts in a school, this might seem a bit usual and ordinary at first but once the story develops further, you get to discover an enormous world, with massive amount of information, and well told backstory that will leave you in awe.
The story has a fast pacing, like the description had said, but it is still enjoyable where you don’t get stuck in random events that are useless and not related to the overall plot.
The characters are a bit lacking in description but their motives and ambitions are shown later on and with every new volume characters get fleshed out and their personality becomes more distinguished
the style is very good as it will make the reader want more and more.
The grammar is (for a nonnative speaker) amazing.

I hope that whomever is reading this review would just stop and start reading the story. Don’t try to stop and just wait out the things that may seem useless because once you get to the sixth volume you will all find how everything is related and everything the author says has a reason for being there

Style: I like the style because 1st person is currently my favorite perspective. Transitions between 1st and 3rd are also smooth enough to where I barely notice. My only complaint is that when you swith between two 1st person perspectives of different characters it takes me a while to figure out who is talking. I suggest indicating who is speaking in the chapter or section name or beginning.

Story: This is my favorite part of the story for one reason. You can tell the inspiration is from anime and manga and yet it manages to avoid all the annoying cliches that those genres seem to be riddled with. No Super easy to achieve harem so far for one. All the relationships have progressed in a natural manner so far. The Magic school thing did not become a beat and showup everyone in school thing, or was even central to the plot, which was a main plus.  The progression of power for the character was also more natural that most. He is talented and has some natural advantages, but his power is achieved with help and hard work, not just handed to him magically on a platter. Also the whole story is not just one giant training montage which I am very greatful for. Finally the ideas used in the story seem to be fairly original as far as I can tell and combined in an original manner, and I enjoy the world you created immensly.

Grammer: This is by far your weakest area, but it is by not means the worst on this site. You have done a remarkable job for having basically taught yourself English, but you really need to watch what tenses you use. That is your most often mistake. Also you seem to use magnanimous in a way that often doesn't quite fit the context of what your describing, and you spell tier wrong though I can't remeber how.

Character: This is also pretty good, though there is room for improvement. I enjoy Asura and his often ammusino surface thoughts, but I think the story good be improved quite a bit by putting in some of his deeper thoughts, musings, delimmas and doubts. Also let us see more of how his past has effected his attitude, because as it is now, we know he had a crappy past, but we havn't really seen it in detail or how it has effected over time.

Conclusion: This story deffinitily has room for improvement, like any, but you have done a great job so far. So good infact, that once I started I couldn't stop until I got to the last chapter posted, and once I did I almost cried. I want more and I don't want to wait!

A great unique adventure, worthy of being top ten!!

This story is one of a kind. While there are many stories regarding magic, fantasy and academies, 'The Everlasting' is a unique work that will drag you into a world of creativity and imagination.

The author has spent a lot of attention bringing this story into life, bringing in well detailed lore on both Magic and the World. Unlike what most writers write about magic, Biakogan has went the extra mile to bring in new and unique concepts about magic into his story.

The characters are great, and the plot flow is such an ease to read. Biakogan has done a very great job of sinking in pieces of the lore bit by bit while he expands on the story.

The only downside to the story is that some of the sentence structures requires improvement. But the bad is minimum, and it does not have much of an impact to reading experiences. I hope more people would provide this story with comments. The author is very passionate about his story and would love to find ways to improve his story.

I have nothing to say about the story, since I didn't get past the first volume.I do however know what kind of plot this novel has, roughly. That is why rated it story 4/5, I think it at least deserves around that much. As for the rest of the things I need to talk about in my review;

Style: I quite liked the style of it. It was really easy to read, sentences were easy to understand as well. And since grammar-wise it is easily above most of the works on RRL, style is affected in a good way from it.

Now, the problem with the novel; characters. Mainly protagonist. I don't know what the author was trying to do, creating a protagonist that has absolutely no personality at all. The entire 1st volume(sure the volume is not that long but that is not an excuse) I have yet to see the protagonist show any kind of decent reaction to ANYTHING. He is supposedly a kid who was brought up secluded from the world, because of his past and because of his training. So you would expect him to be a kid who will be surprise(naturally) by things he sees for the first time(btw trust me, almost anything this kid sees is new to him). But he doesn't get surprised, angry, frustrated, happy... by anything he sees/encounters. And trust me he does get to see some surprising stuff, he almost gets killed twice, he is literally being played around but do you know what his reaction is to all these things? Nothing. Literally nothing. He just doesn't have any reaction to anything. It almost feels like he has a short-term momory loss and just forgets about everything he's gone through in a mere second. It's like he forgets things so fast he doesn't even have the time to react to anything, except out of reflex. Other characters aren't much different as well, but they are much better than the protagonist, which makes his personality(!?) even more frustrating. I mean, when your side characters feel like human but the protagonist feels like a computer, you are doing something completely wrong.

TL,DR; Except for the characters, it's pretty decent. But characters(especially the protagonist) is so badly written it is enough to destroy all the potential this story would have.

important;

Of course, this is all just MY opinion. I hate it myself, when I see someone saying "I recommend you to stay away from this novel" so that is something I absolutely refuse to say. There is clearly a ton of people who love this work so that just shows how much opinions differ. And again, although I said these in my review it doesn't mean I don't recommend this story to any of you. In fact I do. What I think about the characters might not be true for you and in fact you might like them very much. And since I think everything else then characters were done very well in my opinion, there is a very high chance you will like this novel if you like its characters.

Awesome story with great potential to be one of my top favorite stories.

The only issues i have is that some though there is character development it feels kind of rushed and some characters personality are quite shallow(or has no depth to it) although the are side character.

As far as grammer goes, i must say it quite impressive although there are spellling errors like instead of spelling 'thought' he spells it as 'taught'. although it as some one who english is not he first language it impressive

Hidden gem! This story has a very deep plot and multiple stories going on at once. The characters are not super unique, but they definitely connect with the reader. Overall 4.5/5. Very good story and have read over twice and still finding things I missed the first time around.
