An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, or a place to find adventures, a starting ground for quests and legends.

In this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her.

But an inn is what she found, and so that’s what she becomes. An innkeeper who serves drinks to heroes and monsters–

Actually, mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

This is the story of the Wandering Inn.

My Personal Favorite

This story is absolutely adorable. I love Erin and how she interacts with the world she finds herself in. Just fantastic. Well worth a read. It is light on action in parts, but it is all the better for it in my opinion.

Can't Find the Right Set of Words!

This story enthralls the reader.

The lore of the world is ever expanding and unique, with an endless amount of mysticism that always calls to be revealed. Lore building isn't so much as the author explaining the world, but the characters and yourself unveiling the world through your own interpretation. If we were to describe other lore builders to the author, then we would have the explanation of the universe VS. the peeling of layers to discover the truths of the universe.

Style in this story is great, I can't describe it any other way.

Grammar problems? Those exist?

Characters are unique. No character is like any other, they all have their own unique backstories that influence their judgement and viewpoint of the world. What's even more amazing is that we get to experience and see the viewpoints of many characters. It's not a transmigration novel of a character growing OP, and everyone going along with it. All transmigrated individuals insert their being into the world(even if they hate the world) and develop with the stimulus that's thrown in their way.

Mood; there's varying amount of moods as life isn't always sunshine and rainbows.

Examples: Death, sadness, depression, insanity, fear, dissapointment, and emptiness.

The best story on this website.

This is easily the most interesting, most consistent, and best-written story I have ever read online. It is even one of the best fantasy fictions I know, easily competing with the most popular published series. With each chapter the scope expands and the plot becomes more interesting, with plenty of satisfying climaxes throughout.

The characters in this are also simply amazing. The main character (Erin) is a wonderful character displaying depth as well as a unique personality, which is refreshing to find in a web-novel. Almost every single character also becomes more developed, with motives and goals. There are also many side stories which interestingly expand the world and characters, each linking to the overarching plot in unique and impactful ways.

The writing is always easy to understand while having stylistic flourishes making it a joy to read. Only extremely rarely do I have to stop to clarify what is going on. Character interactions also feel completely natural, showing the deep insight the author has into their own characters. The action is also clear and exhilarating, often having important emotional stakes connected to characters that you will have become invested in.

If you want great pacing, brilliant characters, and an engaging story then you should probably read this. Not only is the wandering inn consistently great, it is also consistently improving.

Everything the Reviews Rave About and More

The Wandering Inn is officially longer than A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones).

And it's nearly as good, too. The characters are likeable, the worldbuilding is complex (the world is massive) and the twists always land well.

An epic in the original sense of the word

Literary masterpiece. Plot depth and scale comparable to Brandon Sanderson’s epic high fantasy series The Stormlight Archive. Quality of writing and character development are also as well-crafted as the massive, slowly unravelling plot. Hands down the best free novel I’ve ever read.

The characters are written in a way that really shows their personality, even if it may be hard to stomach at times(ryoka). The will to stand up against the readers, to give a character that is human, and doesnt bend because of the hate from fans is impressive.

I really do hope, you as the author make this story great, even if it has a gritty end.

PS: It doesn't happen so much anymore, but in the earlier chapters there was alot of vomit... whats with that?

Should be an all 5 rating

This is the only fiction here on RRL that I've read up to date. Other fictions are good, but they get boring later on. Or others are good later on, but the start was bad or boring.

Style Score - 5/5

It's so easy to read. The chapters are long, but they grip you. It's not just the contents of the story. Each line, each paragraph are well-written, unlike Chinese web novels that keeps on repeating a single thought with multiple different idioms over the span of five chapters treating the readers like idiots who doesn't understand what they are reading. I myself tend to skip over long paragraphs when I notice that the author is just ranting senseless fillers, but here in TWI, I rarely did so. I just do it if I'm so excited to see what's gonna happen the next and the character in the scene is someone I don't really care about (yes, I'm looking at you Magnolia Reinhart).

Grammar Score - 5/5

Let's admit it. Most of the fictions here are barely readable. Common excuse is English is not being their first language. I don't blame them for that, but at least, if you actually want people to appreciate your work, learn the language. Get better at it.

I'm giving you a five despite the mistakes, because who's perfect in their grammar and spelling? Even editors and proofreaders make mistakes. If that's the case, why even give a maximum of 5 star in rating for grammar? Maybe RRL should only allow us to rate up to 4.5, no?

Story Score - 5/5

The story is all over the place, but that's not a bad thing. It's all over the place, because the world is so huge, and the characters are so plenty. And I love your story, and I know you love it so much, too.

Character Score - 5/5

Every character has a story to tell. It's just so well woven into the world and is one of the biggest points of this story. I hate Magnolia Reinhart, but I still want to see what will be her final contribution to the story, if she will end up as a villain, or if she actually is in the side of good.

*SPOILER BELOW* You have been warned!

Spoiler: Spoiler

Another thing, the most useful skill in the fiction so far is Dangersense. Let's admit it. It's annoying when it other stories, the characters just know when something's happening when there's no telltale sign. They call it sixth sense or intuition or whatever, but it's just a convenient illogical plot tool. It's okay if it happens once or twice during the most crucial moment, but when it happens in almost every conflict, it's just boring.

But Dangersense, wow. The feeling I get when everyone with that skill within Liscor and TWI suddenly turned their heads to the dungeon before the Face-eater Moths appeared, I could just imagine it in my head and feel a tingle in my spine. It's almost like I had the skill myself.

Overall, this is a story worth a full five. Keep on writing to the end! Good luck, and have fun!

A work of the century! Dok recommends!

This is exactly what I have been looking for!

This story is exactly what I had been looking for, for quite some time. I had wanted a story wherein not too much happens, and the focus would be on an inn or perhaps a bar. The Wandering Inn screamed me in the face "Read me then! and be amazed!" and I was. believe me, I was.

I had been looking for a relaxing story to read, that kept it nice and homely, with a pinch of adventure and fun. The Wandering Inn provided and just kept on adding more. At first, I thought I disliked the 'sudden' turn towards the more traditional fantasy setting, but it never strode far from its path: that of an Inn story. An Innworld.

The characters. Gods, the characters. You could go on and on about how seemingly well integrated they all are, and how they all play along together to further each others plots. There be no filler characters here, nay. Only MCs and side-characters with enough plomp about them that they could star their own sotry. Which they do. I'm sure of it.

The best part I feel is that the powerlevel of the various characters are kept in a level that feels right for what they have done to acheive it. A legendary hero who fought through two major wars and is renowned as the greatest General in the world? His power is deserved, hard fought. Uh, and sometimes, you'll never guess this, but sometimes.... Characters die. And they stay dead! WHAT!? yeah, I know. Shocking. But it's not all Game of Thrones here. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows. It's a fantasy. And stuff happens.

The growth of the characters, both as people and their respective powers, is what it's all about. People interacting with people. And it's beautiful.

The story and its surrounding world is beautifully described and speak to me on a profound level. The chapters themselves has reached a level of addiction, I crave for the next release. Like a tasty truffel (That's a "rum ball" for all the ingrates who use the fake name. grr.)

I have no more to but this. I give it a Dok's Recommendation! Highest level award. Woop woop. Great work Author, keep it coming!

All Hail the Penguin Empire!
